SAMSUNG Electronics' Semiconductor Division has set a goal to improve energy efficiency by 5% under the slogan, “Catch CO2”. Through increased energy-saving activities, we have reduced energy consumption by 57% and CO2 by 520,000 tons from 2001 to 2008.

Major energy-saving activities are as follows :

• Energy-saving activity in semiconductor manufacturing
  • - 25% increase in energy efficiency at our new production lines through the introduction of low-power equipment
  • - Energy use optimization at existing production lines through the implementation of dump heat procedures and the introduction of low-power equipment
• Forming an energy-conscious culture
  • - Turning off unnecessary lights (Turn off unused lights, turn off lights during lunch time, etc.)
  • - Deploying an ongoing system to propose ideas for greenhouse gas reduction
