Nam-seong Cho is President of the LED Business of Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions.

Executive Vice President, Nam-seong Cho, is head of LED Business at Samsung Electronics. As a future growth engine, Samsung's LED business was initiated as a joint venture between Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., Ltd. in 2009. Recently, Mr. Cho successfully led the merger of Samsung LED into Samsung Electronics, which aims at further strengthening Samsung's foothold in LED market. The merger takes effect on April 1st, 2012.

Mr. Cho began his career in 1983 as a Quality Assurance Engineer at Samsung's Semiconductor Business. Until 1998, he served various key roles in assuring memory quality, while completing a two-year-company-sponsored MBA program. In January of 1999, he was assigned to the Corporate Auditing Team of the Samsung Group as an internal auditor. Furthermore, in recognition of his achievement in improving operation efficiency and regulatory compliance, Mr. Cho was promoted to Vice President in 2002.
In January 2005, Mr. Cho was assigned to Samsung Japan Corporation (SJC) where he served as head of Semiconductor and LCD sales. In 2009, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and returned to Korea as head of Marketing at the Memory Division.

After being chosen as head of the Storage Systems Business in 2010, he oversaw organizational transitions of the hard disk drive operations, forming a strategic partnership with Seagate and assuming position as the CEO of Samsung LED in December of 2011.

Mr. Cho earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Sung Kyun Kwan University and an M.B.A. from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
