Samsung Electronics abides by the WSC's (World Semiconductor Council) voluntary PFC agreement; it has also signed a voluntary Negotiated Agreement with the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy, and set reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.
To implement these agreements, the Semiconductor Division of Samsung Electronics continually strives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy use through various energy-saving activities. With the help of such activities, this division has eliminated 1,020,000 tons of CO2 from 2001 to 2011 and 9.66 million tons of CO2 from 1997 to 2010, respectively. This is equivalent to planting an astounding 3.85 billion trees.
