environmental information
SAMSUNG Electronics believes it is necessary for companies to communicate the appropriate information to customers to help them to move to more sustainable consumption.
For this purpose, we provide Type II Environmental Labeling information and Lifecycle
inventory data.
Eco-Mark : ISO Type(Self Declaration) Labelling
Type II
Environmental Labeling is a self-declared product claim made by manufacturers. ISO 14021 Standard defines the basis of the claim, to ensure they are reliable and do not mislead.
SAMSUNG ECO Mark consists of the symbol & logo and clear and transparent statement such as RoHS compliant and Halogen-free.

SAMSUNG's exclusive ECO Mark is a visual symbol of the environmental friendliness of the product, and clearly shows the company's commitment to eco-friendly business.
Electronics + Tree leaf (Environment) = SproutAn electronic device that is concerned about the environment.
ECOlogy + ECOnomyThe creation of new added values by understanding and responding to environmental needs.
Definition of statement
Lifecycle Inventory: ISO Type III Labeling
SAMSUNG Electronics can provide Cradle to Gate (CtG) environmental intervention of a chip when customer requests. For any questions regarding Lifecycle Inventory, please contact the sales representative.

LCA requests from the customers came in various and complicated forms, and often related to business confidentiality. Therefore, much time was needed to handle them, and many were not allowed to be disclosed.
To more efficiently and actively respond to customers' evaluation requests on the entire process, SAMSUNG Electronics Semiconductor Business created EPS (Eco-Product System) that calculates LCI results for each product code by interfacing the relevant database in the company.
EPS system provides CtG (Cradle to Gate) data for the requested product code.
It frees customers from the work of re-calculation of the survey results. Users can directly utilize the attached CtG inventory.
- BOM of product (Recipe) determines the amount of raw and subsidiary materials used.
(with consideration for yield) - Overhead utilities like electric power / water / bulk gas are allocated based on the production
volume + number of processes (steps) - Internal exhausts (water / air / wastes) are calculated based on the filed data, and the amount is
allocated according to the correlation with input. - Internal data is calculated as the annual average from January to December 2003.
- For upstream data, the I/O data of 1996 US Inter-industry Relation Table and pollutant amount
surveyed by US EPA (TRI, CO2, NOx, Sox, etc.)
I/O Data Source : CML (NL) MIET ver. 2.0 (http://www.leidenuniv.nl./interfac/cml/ssp/index.html)
High purity is required for raw and subsidiary materials for semiconductor products, and therefore commercial LCI DB does not exist for the materials. It is also very difficult to find the necessary data, which are closely related to business secrets or patent issues.
SAMSUNG Electronics used statistics for each industry.
[Used amount of each raw and subsidiary material] X [unit cost] X [environmental effects /
unit cost ; statistical value for the industry in US 1996 data]
