With so many different mobile application processors (APs) on the market, it can be difficult to tell them apart from one another. Some are faster; some consume less power; and some are better suited for specific tasks. The Exynos 5 Dual processor is unlike any other processor on the market. ARM® Cortex™-A15 Processor

WQXGA Display Resolution

Even with such a high-quality display, the Exynos 5 Dual still consumes far less power than other mobile processors. It is the first mobile AP with an integrated e-DisplayPort (eDP), a component that makes WQXGA support possible. Compared to conventional eDP interfaces, this integrated eDP consumes six times less power. The Exynos 5 Dual also supports Panel-Self-Refresh (PSR), a feature that detects still image display and conserves power by turning off unused functions. When in PSR mode, this SoC consumes 20 times less power than it does in active mode.
Full HD 60fps Video Performance
As mobile devices have progressed, users have begun to expect better video quality and stereoscopic 3D performance that necessitate more advanced video engines. To meet these needs, the Exynos team created the Exynos 5 Dual, the first mobile processor in the market to support full HD 60fps video encoding/decoding and to display stereoscopic content through an integrated HDMI v1.4.
With this level of simultaneous encoding/decoding, you can record video in full HD 60fps and also display full HD video directly on your TV via WiFi. This generally requires a lot of memory bandwidth because 1080p video must be decoded and encoded at the same time, while basic user interface and communication functions also take place. The Exynos 5 Dual has enough memory bandwidth to easily support these functions, making equipped mobile devices the perfect complement to any home entertainment system.

Samsung engineers worked closely with ARM® to create the quad-core Mali-T604, the most advanced mobile 3D engine to date. If you’re into advanced 3D gaming, the Exynos 5 Dual’s high memory bandwidth easily supports WQXGA graphic-intensive apps.
