SAMSUNG TFS4 is an embedded flash file system to use OneNAND flash memory as storage on any consumer electronic devices. It overcomes the existing FAT's weakness over the power off recovery, and is fast recovered even if the power is suddenly lost. SAMSUNG TFS4 perfectly compatible with FAT file system that has been used in most operating systems, and so multimedia data stored in OneNAND flash memory can be detected to any other systems.
SAMSUNG TFS4 has basic functionalities as traditional file system that enables to organize data stored in OneNAND flash memory in a file, directory, and volume. It includes a FTL that makes OneNAND flash memory emulate a normal hard disk drive, and so enables optimized data management as well as file management to OneNAND flash memory.
SAMSUNG TFS4 offers broad support for the most popular RTOSes such as Nucleus, pSOS, RTKE, REX. Delivering SDK gives you the option to customize software for OneNAND flash memory. Long file name supportSAMSUNG TFS4 supports a long file name. A file name can be up to 255 characters, and a directory name can be up to 243 characters (in Unicode).

System Robustness

Removable Device Support
SAMSUNG TFS4 supports both internal and external storage devices. It runs stably when the external storage device such MMC (Multi Media Card) is suddenly inserted or ejected.
Convenient Storage Management by Partition
SAMSUNG TFS4 allows OneNAND flash memory being managed to a few partitions like a hard disk drive. It supports multiple volumes up to five; four volumes are used for the internal storage device and one volume is used for the external one. Only the first partition can be used if the external storage device is divided in more than one partition.
