XSR™
SAMSUNG's XSR is a software layer or device driver, that resides between the OS file system and the NAND flash memory. XSR can be used separately and is independent of Operating system as a common component itself. It provides the OS with full block-device functionality so that NAND flash memory appears to the OS as a regular hard disk drive, while it transparently manages the flash data.
The following application notes for XSR provide answers to frequently asked questions about XSR Flash Management Software. It contains the description of the features and functions of the XSR using NAND flash memory
XSR 1.5 Wear Leveling
- The following application note explains the method to maximize the service life of entire NAND Flash memory given a finite lifetime of individual cells.
XSR 1.5 Bad Block Management
- The following application note explains the method for managing the bad areas of flash memory so that information is reliably stored in the flash memory.
