The world's premier mobile event, the 3GSM World Congress 2007, enjoyed a second successful year in Barcelona with an increase in both the quantity and quality of visitors. An estimated 55,000 visitors from across the globe gathered at the Congress to do business and discuss the hottest trends in the mobile phone industry. This year the Congress, organised by the GSM Association, hosted 1,300 exhibitors.
At 3GSM, SAMSUNG Telecommunication Systems Division demondemons-
trated its newest Mobile WiMAX technology, ‘Mobile WiMAX WAVE 2’ in SAMSUNG booth. ‘Mobile WiMAX Wave 2’ which supports Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO) and Smart Antenna is a next generation mobile telecommunications technology created by the combination of Mobile WiMAX and 4G technology. It can realize 40 Mbps download and 12 Mbps upload transmission speeds in maximum.
Sprint's partners in the 4G wireless broadband initiative, SAMSUNG, Intel, Motorola, and Nokia, shared a booth under the theme of “WiMAX is here!”. In this booth, the partners together conducted live demonstrations of Mobile WiMAX with network equipment and devices provided by SAMSUNG.
