Samsung Trunk Gateway is a next generation trunk gateway providing VoIP services. Together with Softswitch, it is one of the most important elements for legacy circuit switches (Tall/Tandem switches) to evolve into IP based switches. This solution reduces the investment cost to change into IP based IMS (Inter Machine Trunk).
Samsung Trunk Gateway has a modular architecture that enhances flexibility and scalability. This architecture also provides high capacity and port density thus reducing CAPEX and OPEX. With advanced IP switching and routing architecture, Samsung Trunk Gateway supports not only current simple VoIP services but also smooth migration into value added QoS IP networks without investment overlapping. It adopts open standard protocols such as Megaco, H.323 and Sigtran, so easily inter-operates third party vendor products.
To support seamless migration into fixed-mobile convergence and multimedia services, Samsung Trunk Gateway can be modified into wireless gateway or IMS-media gateway (3GPP standard) by making partial changes to hardware and software.
MMS-400S is using high performance CPU and network processor so it is possible to support up to 30 K VoIP DS0 in a single shelf and it supports 48 Gbps switch fabric and 4 Gbps throughput.
In order to provide powerful IP services such as QoS and security, MMS-400S is using specific multi-NPU .
