| Samsung Shows Strength of Its Electronics Products Line in Hong Kong |

Samsung exhibited the strength of its rapidly growing digital consumer products at the Samsung digital convergence convention today at 5/F of the HKCEC. The convention showcased 80 digital products, 20 of which were new models first seen in Hong Kong.
Samsung has been rapidly developing its products for the digital consumer market in recent years, a period marked by repeated technological breakthroughs launching and innovative hi-tech digital products. After the introduction of its 63” plasma TV and 40” LCD TV, Samsung is now launching a 70” Plasma and 46” LCD TV, both of which are the largest in the market.
Mr. Y. H. Kim, Managing Director of Samsung Electronics HK Co. Ltd said, “Samsung is playing a very important role in the digital convergence age because we have the best quality components and devote considerable resources to R&D, creativity and strong management to navigate and produce some of the world’s best high-end consumer digital products.”
“In-fact, Samsung’s development in digital electronics has been easily apparent in recent years. Last year, Samsung’s global business performance was excellent. We posted record-breaking sales figure of US$54.1billion and US$7.7 billion in net profit. Our brand value is now worth US$10.85billion and is ranked as among the top 25 brands in the world. Samsung is also experiencing the fastest growth in terms of brand value, which is a 30% increase compared to last year,” added Mr Kim.
Samsung maintains the widest product line in the industry, the efforts of which were on full display at The Convention which exhibited a vast range of product line-ups from digital TV, AV products, computing products, mobile phones and home electronic appliances. The highlights include:
The Unprecedented 70” Plasma TV Building on the cutting-edge technology of Samsung’s Plasma panel, Samsung launched its record-breaking 70-inch Plasma TV. The new Samsung 70-inch Plasma TV features unprecedented visual quality with a superb resolution of up to 1080 pixels. The brightness and contrast ratio are also notably improved, reaching 1000cd/m² and 1500:1 respectively. Together with Samsung’s unique DNIe™ technology, the Samsung 70-inch Plasma TV offers users an unparalleled digital experience. The Samsung 4th generation Plasma Panel ― P4H series Samsung’s 4th generation Plasma panel, P4H, adds to the existing strengths of its 4th generation Panels with its remarkable brightness of 1000cd/m² and 3000:1 contrast ratio, while further extending resolution up to 1024 X 768. With the integrated 2-way 10-speaker system, users can enjoy premium surround sound quality even when watching TV. In addition, the Samsung P4H supports high-definition TV (HDTV) 1080i and progressive scan functions, making it the most versatile screen for use both today and in the future.
The First Samsung 37” Plasma TV Apart from 42”, 50”, 63” and the recently launched Plasma, Samsung has expanded its product line to satisfy the market with the launch of the first 37” Plasma TV. The first Samsung 37” Plasma TV (PS37S4A) features an embedded TV turner for PAL and NTSC systems, high resolution of 1024 x 1027, and remarkable brightness and contrast rations of 700cd/m² and 1000:1 respectively. Additionally, the Samsung 37” Plasma TV supports progressive scan function and comes with SRS TruSurround XT sound system for a superior acoustic performance.
The Market’s Largest 46” LCD TV Samsung has extended its advantage as the largest TFT-LCD producer with the launch the largest 46” LCD TV, another size record for Samsung in the market. This revolutionary model supports a remarkable 1920 x 1080 resolution with contrast and brightness of 500cd/m² and 800:1. The new 46” LCD TV is compatible with 1080i, 720p, and 1080p standards together with 1080 progressive screening, offering the best display performance to users. Samsung has also adapted the innovative “12C” technology for the reproduction of the optical picture, delivering the clearest and most natural images to users.
Extra-slim Digital Camera – U-CA401 After the first ever-launch of 5 Samsung digital cameras at the end of April, Samsung has introduced another extra-slim digital camera model – U-CA401. The body of the U-CA401 is as slim as a card-holder. With 3.2M pixel CCD, 4 x digital zoom SHD lens, trendy techno silver body, in-built 32MD memory and support for Memory Stick Duo the U-CA401 provides a convenient and fresh digital photo-shooting experience.
The Slim 17” LCD notebook – M40 The first Samsung 17” LCD notebook weighs only 2.99kg and is the lightest notebook with for its specifications. Samsung M40 uses Intel® Centrino™ technology with a high-speed 2GHz Pentium® M processor and dedicated 333 MHz DDR SDRAM and 80G hard disk. The M40 provides WXGA hi-resolution display (1440 x 900) with Nvidia GeForce FX Go 5200 video interface, 64 MB dedicated video memory and also supports 4 x AGP, providing the best multi-media visual quality and the most comprehensive multi-media performance, all blended with the M40’s high convenience and mobility. The Ultra-stylish Samsung SyncMaster 173P Aesthetically designed, the 173P adopts a real aluminum cabinet and frosted metallic silver colour scheme. The new LCD monitor also features a “buttonless” design, a harmonic circle stand and thin frame with only 21.1mm bezel size, making it a perfect space saver and fine decorative on the desktop. Advanced New Color Printer (CLP-500) Samsung is launching its CLP-500 colour laser printer in response to the growing demand for colour laser printers among SOHO and small & medium sized business users. With its unique and innovative NO NOIS™ Static Engine and state-of-the-art digital color processing program, the latest Samsung printer is capable of printing 20 pages of black and white or 5 pages of colour per minute while at the same time minimizing noise disruption.
Samsung Anycall D418 Samsung’s Anycall Slide D418 mobile phone features a unique slide design, 262KTFD Color LCD, 300K Pixel CMOS digital camera and a 180° rotating camera lens which provides extended mobile phone functions that will be well-received in the market. Adding to the phone, the Samsung Anycall D418 mobile phone also has dulcet 64 Poly Ring Tones while the multi-shot camera function enables users to take 6, 9 or 15 consecutive shots with one click. The camera complies with Motion JPEG format with a maximum capacity of 3MB, each of 1 minute duration, enabling users to shoot video movies in full Motion JPEG anytime on Anycall.
Samsung Anycall X458 The brilliant new Samsung Anycall X458 is equipped with a 65,536 colour display offering the most vibrant palettes for today’s mobile phone users. It also comes with 40 polyphonic ringtone melodies, letting users indulge in beautiful musical sounds anytime, anywhere. With its built-in JAVA platform, the Samsung Anycall X458 can be used to download games or other applications.
