Samsung Electronics Hong Kong today expanded its digital camera product portfolio with the launch of its first Prosumer-grade digital camera - Samsung Pro815. Featuring many world firsts, including longest 15x optical zoom and largest 3.5 inch LCD, Samsung Pro815 makes it easy to shoot or browse photos, providing a professional photo-taking experience for both novices and advanced users alike.

Longest 15x Optical Zoom in its class – Samsung Pro815 digital camera is designed for prosumer and advanced users, featuring top notch Schneider lens and a 2/3 inch 8 mega-pixel CCD to ensure excellent digital shooting results. Samsung Pro815 features 7.2-108mm lens (equivalent to a 28-420mm lens in 35mm format), the longest in its class, as well as 4x digital zoom, allowing users to capture ultra-crisp images in both wide angle and telephoto modes from a distance.
World’s largest 3.5 inch Liquid Crystal Display – Samsung Pro815 digital camera comes with the world’s largest 3.5 inch TFT LCD screen, which provides 230,000 pixels and 16.7 million color display. The LCD also features TMR (Transmissive with Micro Reflective) technology, ensuring ultra-crisp images even when shooting under bright sunlight.
Superb response time – Samsung Pro 815 delivers remarkable performance in response time, with only a 1.0 second startup and shot-to-shot speed. It also allows users to shoot subjects moving at high speed by offering shutter speeds up to 1/4,000 second. Pro815 includes high speed continuous shooting at 2.5 frames/sec, normal continuous shooting that lets users shoot while viewing an image taken on the LCD, and ultra high speed continuous shooting that allows them to shoot up to ten 1-megapixel images per second. As it has high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity, images can be transferred to a PC quickly.
World’s first Top View LCD – Another great feature of the Pro815 is waist-level shooting, enabled by its top view LCD. The 1.44" wide color TFT LCD of the Pro815 displays a preview screen in real time, allowing the waist-level shooting style often adopted by professional photographers. This LCD position enables taking pictures from a much broader choice of angles, enhancing creativity. The top LCD can also be used as a status LCD to display shooting data. Since the required information is available on the LCD at all times, users can capture a subject or choose a desired function more quickly.
Long-lasting battery life – The Pro815 comes with the world's largest-capacity 7.4V, 1900mAh lithium-ion battery. On a full charge this battery can enable shooting of up to 450 shots, before further charging is required.
Full-featured digital camera
In addition, the Pro815 offers comprehensive manual photography features that meet all the needs of aspiring photographers. Manual exposure (Aperture/Shutter/Manual) and manual focus control features are included as standard. Three rings surrounding the lens controls manual zoom, manual focusing and EV compensation, provide users with direct control of manual operations. The dual jog system, which is used to control aperture and shutter speed, also delivers precision in manual operation. With a press to the "HS" button, users can shoot in a high-speed shutter mode, allowing anti-shake shooting and capturing clear and sharp image.
The camera has various focusing modes including AF Lock, Continuous AF and Select Area AF. In particular, white balance is available in Preset, Custom and Colour Temperature Adjust modes. Contrast and saturation can also be controlled for creative expression in the depth of colour required. The camera supports Adobe RGB Color Space as well as RAW file, making it the perfect choice for semi-processionals and hobbyists.
