Ten new camcorder models from Samsung descended on the HK market with a splash today, including three DVD and six DV camcorders, and the Miniket Flash Memory camcorder. With its unveiling of this latest line for 2006, Samsung reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the digital lifestyle of Hong Kong consumers with innovative products that transform how they capture, play and share multimedia content.

Samsung is set to propel the DVD camcorder market to new heights with three new advanced models. Led by the VP-DC563i which features 1.1 megapixel CCD, Samsung's new DVD camcorders offer compatibility with all major single-layer DVD formats as well as the remarkable dual-layer DVD+R format that doubles data storage capacity on DVD recordable discs from 4.7 Gbyte to 8.5 Gbyte.

The new range is designed for consumers who want a high-quality, full-featured DVD camcorder that allows convenient, direct recording to high-capacity, single- and dual-layer DVD discs, as well as compatibility with the most popular memory card formats. All six models work with DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and DVD+R single-layer formats, plus the DVD+R dual-layer format.

The 4-in-1 multiple memory card slot is compatible with all major formats including Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MMC and SD cards. USB 2.0 and PictBridge™ technologies offer quick, convenient file transfer with personal computers and easy printing to PictBridge™ compatible printers.

The VP-DC563i features 26x Optical Zoom / 1200x digital zoom and 10-second power-on time, allowing consumers capture valuable shots without losing the moment. The VP-DC563i can also record and play MPEG4 video (720 x 576/25fps), function as a webcam, and take digital still photos at an 1152 x 864 resolution. And it shows it all in glorious color on its 2.5" LCD screen.

Other new models include the VP-DC163i and VP-DC165Wi, offering Samsung's industry-leading DVD format compatibility, 4-in-1 multi-memory card slots, and compact design. The 800,000-pixel CCD and 33x optical/ 1200x digital zoom deliver exceptional flexibility when shooting home movies, while the VP-DC165Wi model’s 2.7" wide LCD screen gives you a true 16:9 wide-screen view of the action. With this camcorder, owners of digital widescreen TVs can now create and view their home movies without any image distortion. These models also feature USB 2.0 and PictBridge™ technologies.

Samsung has combined superior picture quality with a host of new features in a next-generation line of Mini DV camcorders that are 15% smaller in size than last year’s models. These six new Mini DV Compact and Mega models offer Samsung’s latest usability enhancements along with high optical zoom for superior picture in a compact camcorder.

Mini DV Compact
Samsung’s VP-D365Wi, VP-D363i and VP-D361i Mini DV compact camcorders all feature an 800,000-pixel CCD for superior quality video capture in a truly small package. MPEG-4 recording, webcam capability, and 800 x 600 still image capture (VP-D365Wi, VP-D363i) keeps these camcorders ahead of the pack in terms of versatility and convenience. And USB 2.0 and PictBridge™ technologies make file transfer and printing a snap. This range also has a 33x optical zoom and 1200x digital zoom.

The VP-D363i comes with SD and MMC memory card slots, while VP-D365Wi features a 4-in-1 multi memory card slot and 32MB of built-in memory. Both models support USB 2.0 for easy sharing and transfers. In addition, the 2.7" wide LCD screen of the VP-D365Wi makes it even easier to set up the perfect angle.

Mini DV Mega
Samsung’s VP-D965Wi Mini DV Mega camcorder features a 1.1 megapixel CCD with 26x optical zoom and a 2.7" wide High Resolution LCD, with a 4-in-1 multi memory card slot and 64MB of built-in memory. This Mini DV Mega camcorder features true Samsung flexibility with 1152 x 864 digital still image capture, MPEG-4 video recording and webcam capability. This model also offers USB 2.0 connectivity and PictBridge™ technology.

The compact and slim (406cc) VP-D463i and VP-D467i models have 2.5" LCD screens and USB 2.0 connectivity and PictBridge™ technology. The VP-D467i comes with a 4-in-1 multi memory card slot and 64MB of built-in memory.

All of Samsung’s 2006 Mini DV camcorder models feature the company’s latest functionality enhancements. Topping the list is true 16:9 wide mode video capture. When the 16:9 effects are selected, widescreen footage can be displayed on a digital TV through the Samsung camcorder without image distortion.

The home entertainment experience is also enhanced by features such as Wind Cut Plus, which lets users keep the original sound and filter out background wind noise. The Stereo Enhancement feature creates a vivid divide between right and left channels for a stereo sound field effect. Moreover, playback audio effects allow users to focus audio playback on the human voice, music or sound direction and add echo effects.
