Samsung Electronics, the world leader in digital media technology, has released its stylish and compact Q40 notebook with an SSD solid-state disk flash memory-based hard drive. SSD Hard Drive for Speed, Strength and Performance
The new Samsung Q40 is embedded with either 16GB or 32GB NAND flash-based SSD in place of a conventional rotational media-based hard drive.
SSD drives typically read 300 percent faster (53MB/s) and write 150 percent faster (28MB/s) than normal hard drives, longer battery life and reduced weight. As a result, Q40 users will be able to run multiple applications simultaneously and view and edit large volumes of data more efficiently. They will also be able to get up and running more quickly since the pre-installed MicrosoftR WindowsR XP operating system will boot up 25 percent to 50 percent faster on the SSD than on other drives. |

In addition, the SSD drive can withstand twice the impact that would cripple a regular hard disk drive and is proof against vibration, shock and extreme temperature. Plus, data stored in flash memory is more easily retrieved if the device is dropped or doused with liquid.
The SSD technology also improves on the no-fan, completely silent design of the Q40 family. In contrast to the 30dB of operating noise generated by the typical notebook PC, the Q40 with SSD provides silent operation. This allows it to be confidently used in lecture theatres, libraries and other quiet environments. |

Samsung Innovation for Compact, Eco-friendly Style
Like previous Q40 models (Q40T000), the Q40 with SSD offers exceptional mobility and a sleek and stylish design. It weighs only 1.29kg and is extremely slim: just 18 mm at its thinnest part. However, this compact design is packed with advanced features, including:
- A 12.1-inch 250 nit super bright gloss screen, a large, comfortable keyboard and unique no-latch design;
- Easy-to-use function keys for one-touch control of wireless antenna, touch pad and 3D sound, and instant battery status check;
- IntelR CoreTM Solo ULV processor and IntelR 945GM chipset & DDRII 533MHz memory for fast performance;
- A supplied external 12.7mm DVD super multi Dual Layer drive, complementing the high-brightness screen in the optimal ratio for DVD movies;
- IntelR GMA 945GM for enhanced graphics in presentations;
- SRS WOW 3D technology for vibrant sound;
- Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), for three-times faster performance than Bluetooth 1.2;
- Q40-SSD supports X-Dock II, providing expansion ports and easy cabling; and
- Comprehensive connectivity with various I/O ports and 4-in-1 Multi Memory Card Slot.
The Q40 also incorporates Samsung's Silver Nano technology and is compliant with RoHS standards that restrict the use of hazardous substances. For extra peace of mind, it also carries the Samsung ECO Mark, certifying that the Q40 uses eco-friendly components and packing materials, and promotes power saving.
Silver Nano technology takes advantage of the anti-bacteria properties of silver to protect computer users from potentially harmful germs, moulds and bacteria. It is applied as a high-tech coating on the Q40's keyboard and palm rest.
