[CSR] Samsung joined hands with Tung Wah Group of Hospitals

Set up Samsung Digital Hub to bring new hopes

to children from underprivileged families

(Hong Kong – August 22, 2011) Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. strives to enhance innovative digital technology and human’s quality of life, and to promote harmony in the community through its continuous support on charity events in realizing corporate faith and commitment.



Samsung believes every child should have a fair learning environment. In this advanced digital century, Samsung has therefore launched a project named Samsung Hope for Children, aiming to enhance children’s learning abilities and to exert their potentials backed by digital learning tools and over 50 Samsung volunteers, bringing them new hopes to step up onto the digital platform and to have a brighter future.



Samsung Hope for Children project has chosen Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Jockey Club Tin Shui Wai Integrated Services Centre as the pioneering site, and has launched the first Samsung Digital Hub in Hong Kong in cooperation with Tung Wah Group of Hospitals for children from underprivileged families in Tin Shui Wai district. Apart from enjoying different computer equipment donated by Samsung, ChangJie Chinese input method and movie creation classes conducted by Samsung volunteers also allow children to step up onto the digital platform.

Alex Chung, Chief Operating Officer, Samsung Electronics Hong Kong reiterated Samsung’s mission, “Samsung leads the world with its latest technology and products and strives to improve human’s life, paving ways to a brighter future. We hope the Samsung Digital Hub can help improve learning environment of children in Tin Shui Wai, bringing them new hopes on digital learning, and let them bring happiness back to their home, reaching harmonious family lives.’’



Rebecca Wong, Supervisor, Tung Wah Group of Hospital Jockey Club Tin Shui Wai Integrated Services Centre expressed her appreciation, “Our centre staff and parents are all very happy when being told large batch of new computer equipment from Samsung would soon arrive. Because they can access to advanced technology that is applicable in daily life, and also to learn digitally just like other ordinary family. With guidance from Samsung’s staff, our centre staff has learnt to handle anti-virus program for the computers and other program maintenance. On the other hand, Samsung volunteers have run computer classes for the children, enhancing their learning abilities. We all look forward to seeing this new digital platform to bring our children a brighter future. ’

Apart from launching Samsung Digital Hub, Samsung has helped to renovate Tin Shui Wai Integrated Services Centre by donating 47 computer equipments, including notebooks, colour printers, projectors, cameras, tablets personal computers and LED TV.

Alex Chung continued, ‘’Tin Shui Wai is the first testing site of Samsung Hope for Children project. We hope to extend such meaningful project to other communities, and run more computer classes so as to educate our next generation.’
