[Symptom]

When trying to playback a .rmi music file with Windows Media Player, the message "Cannot playback the file. Windows Media Player does not support this type of file or the codec used to compress this file." appears.

[Cause]

This problem occurs because the Windows Media Player does not support the codec for the .rmi music files..

[Counselor]

.midi files are played back normally and for playback .rmi files, a patched Windows Media Player should be used. This will be included in the Vista Service Pack 1 and he can download it through Windows Update later. LAt present,  a different player (for example, Gom Player) should be used to playback .rmi files.
