How Long Do Samsung Plasma TVs Last?

Last Update date : 2012.01.10

Current generation Samsung Plasma TVs with the Gen-5 display panel have, on average, half lives of 60,000 hours under normal operating conditions. That's more than 27 years if you watch your Plasma TV six hours a day.

Older generation Samsung Plasma TVs with the Gen-4 display panel have, on average, half lives of 50,000 hours under normal operating conditions. That's nearly 23 years if you watch your Plasma TV six hours a day.

The half life is defined as the length of time it takes for the Plasma screen to lose 50% of its brightness.

Note: Most Samsung Plasma TVs have half-lives around the average. Your TV may have a half-life that is longer or shorter than the average listed above.
