TVs From 2006 And Before

If your TV doesn't retain your settings, it may be that the TV is in Shop Mode. Essentially, Shop Mode returns the TV automatically to its default settings in thirty minutes. It is usually used by retailers who want to demonstrate functions to customers, and then want the TV to return to its default settings without the bother of manually resetting the TV.

Removing Your TV from Shop Mode

To remove your TV from Shop Mode, hold the Menu button on the TV (not on the remote) down for three seconds. After you have removed your TV from Shop Mode, it should retain your settings.

Note: Shop Mode is activated in the same manner: Pressing and holding the Menu button on your TV for three seconds. To avoid accidentally setting your TV to Shop Mode, avoid pressing and holding the Menu button for three seconds or more.

2007 TVs

If you have a 2007 Samsung TV (HPT series, FPT series, LNT series, HLT series, or TXT series), and your TV keeps returning to the Dynamic mode, it means that your TV is set to Shop Mode. Essentially, Shop Mode returns the TV automatically to the Dynamic Mode in thirty minutes. It is usually used by retailers who want to demonstrate functions to customers, and then want the TV to return to certain default settings without the bother of manually resetting the TV.

Removing Your TV from Shop Mode

1. First, confirm your TV is in Shop Mode:

2. Press the INFO button on your remote control. A list of settings appears.

See if the Picture Mode setting is set to Shop Mode.

There are two methods for removing your TV from Shop Mode. If the first method does not work, try the second method.

Method 1

To remove your TV from Shop Mode, follow these steps:

1. Press the Volume button on the side panel of your TV. If your TV does not have a side panel, press the Volume button on the front panel. The volume bar is displayed on the screen.

2. Press the Menu button on the side panel of your TV for about seven seconds. Again, if your TV does not have a side panel, press the Menu button on the front panel. If Dynamic or Dynamic Mode is displayed on the screen, your TV has been removed from Shop Mode.

Note: You may want to press the INFO button on your remote again to confirm you TV is no longer in Shop Mode.

Method 2

1. Press the Volume button on your remote.

Q8, The Picture On My LCD TV Is Flickering.

The flickering picture on your LCD TV may be caused by other electronic devices (cell phones, cordless phones, rotating fans, speakers) that are too close to the monitor, or by devices plugged into the same circuit as the monitor.

To end the flickering, try moving the offending devices further away from the TV. If you have devices on the same circuit, try turning them off or plugging them into another circuit. If that doesn't work, the cause of your problem may be outside your house or apartment - a telephone company transformer, for example. Try moving your TV to another location in your room or move the TV to another room altogether.

If the suggestions above do not resolve your flickering problem, then most likely the backlight in your TV is failing and you will have to get your TV serviced.
