employee volunteer programmes

The SAMSUNG Community Service Team was founded in 1994 as a Korean corporation designed to facilitate employees' participation in volunteer service.

SAMSUNG has set up more than 300 central offices for SAMSUNG community relations worldwide. SAMSUNG strongly encourages and supports employees to actively volunteer in a wide spectrum of social improvement projects from environmental clean-ups and disaster relief to providing housekeeping assistance for the elderly and mentoring orphans and young parents. More than 61% of all SAMSUNG employees worldwide donate their time and talent for worthy causes, and approximately 70,500 employees representing 1,902 service teams are currently involved in volunteer programmes. These programmes are carefully selected to match employees job skills with social needs. The Washington D.C. based Points of Light Foundation (POLF) has recognised these cumulative volunteer efforts by selecting SAMSUNG among all international corporations for its prestigious 1998 Award for Excellence in Corporate Community Service.

In awarding SAMSUNG this honour, POLF noted SAMSUNG's achievements in establishing and maintaining effective systems to support employee volunteer activities, leveraging technological and human resources.

Family volunteering is another area in which SAMSUNG works hard for its employees, creating opportunities for quality family time and positive role models to help children and their families feel connected both to our company and our communities.
