Galaxy S7 Flat/Edge - Though I had set the Fingerprint for lock type of Galaxy S7, screen which request PIN, Pattern or Password appears instead of using fingerprint recognition after restarting. I cannot unlock my Galaxy S7 device by using fingerprint compared to previous devices. Why is this?

Last Update date :2017.04.19

For enhanced device security to set screen lock type to Fingerprint, Android OS 6.0 Marshmallow need PIN, Pattern or Password should be set firstly. It’s possible to use your fingerprint for lock type only when one of PIN, Pattern, or Password was set firstly. And, you can use only PIN, Pattern or Password to unlock screen instead of using fingerprint recognition after restarting device or when don’t use device during more than 24 hours. This is Google’s new concept to reinforce the device security which applied commonly for devices based on Android OS 6.0.

Accordingly, if you restart Galaxy S7 or don’t use during more than 24 hours while set your fingerprint for lock type, you can use only PIN, Pattern or Password to unlock screen instead of using fingerprint recognition and it’ common concept of Android devices.
