University sports teams beat the heat at ‘Samsung Fun Club Jump Off’ beach event
Event provides wholesome entertainment to students through sports and social activities
The ‘Samsung Fun Club sports beach party Jump Off’ saw sports teams from various universities in UAE competing for Samsung mobile phones and a host of prizes at the recently concluded beach sports tournament. The event included games such as the beach cricket, beach basketball and beach soccer among other sports events.

“The Samsung Mobile Fun Club, an online interactive community of Samsung phone owners, largely comprising young technology and gadget enthusiasts, has always endeavoured to provide a wholesome entertainment platform for the students community as well as encourage talents development among the youth. Samsung Fun Club will continue to host similar fun-filled and talent driven events in the future,” said Mr. Ramdas Rajamani, Marketing Manager, Samsung Gulf Electronics.

Osayed Rehman, organiser of the beach cricket said, “It was a great game of cricket and all the participants thoroughly enjoyed the tournament. We are looking forward to more such tournaments in the future,” University of Wollongong, the winning team walked away with prizes that included top of the range tracksuits from Sun and Sands sports.

“Beach soccer is a different type of game to the grass alternative and the team played really well to come out on top. I am delighted to have won the Samsung phone for being the top scorer,” commented Hanah Zarour, from the American University in Dubai’s (AUD) champion ladies squad.

The fun never stopped with DJ Riad Maraie, from the AUD, spinning the tunes and keeping the crowd going. Students were also entertained by the UOWD’s Fashion club rendition of the ‘Beach Walk’. The Samsung Fun Club Jump Off also incorporated the AND1 3-on-3-basketball tournament. The winning team from the Sharjah University celebrated in style walking away with the latest basketball kit and accessories.

Other winners at the Jump Off have walked away with Samsung mobile phones, Wild Wadi and Grand Cinemas tickets, AND1 basketball apparel and footwear, Planet Hollywood vouchers and merchandise, Sun and Sands sports hampers, Free 96.7 FM CD’s and Virgin Megastore CD covers. Al Ghurair University won the beach volleyball tournament.

Students run the Student Event Centre from different universities across the UAE providing sports, entrepreneurial and social events as extra- curricular activities to enrich academic lifestyles. The centre is based at Dubai Media City; and one the divisions of the center, the Sports Event Centre, organises inter-university sports tournaments combined with music and dance activities and competitions.
