P2 adopts full touch style of LCD. Touch base is not resistive type touch screen but capacitive type touch screen. This type of touch screen does not respond to sharp objects like a pen. Why did Samsung take on this technology?
First, the capacitive type touch screen improves the transmittance and reflectance of picture quality. Because the LCD of PDA is based on the resistive type touch screen, it looks like deeply sank and its sharpness is inferior to the capacitive type touch screen.
Secondly, MP3 players can bring about malfunction if they are in pockets, while P2 never faces that problem because it is based on capacitive type touch screen. As such, it has less possibility of malfunction.
EmoTureTM is newly made UI for the capacitive type full touch screen. It is a synthesis of emotional and gesture. Samsung has devoted to develop the UI. As a result, the GUI of P2 looks like very simple. This simplicity makes the icons of P2 clear and comfortable to use.
The menu style of P2 is composed of three: cosmos, matrix, and my skin.
The cosmos type of menu presents unusual spectacles that the icons of menu emerge toward the front of screen, as fingers on the LCD revolves. It reminds users of a movie scene in Star Wars that a spacecraft is running toward the early in the speed of light. This is a masterpiece 'show' of Graphic User Interface that evokes users' curiosity and sigh of admiration.
As a similar style with iPod touch, the matrix evenly arranges menu on the LCD. My skin presents users' pictures as wall papers and its menu icon is arranged at the bottom of the screen.
The screen of music player basically supports album art and allows various approaches according to artist, song, and album.
By touching a transverse bar located at the mid-bottom of the screen, it is possible to play back. The play back icon is designed to match exactly with the size of fingers.
Listening to music, you can see various spectra by clicking the upper-center part of the screen.
One of the fascinating points of this product is that you can control music replay, rewinding, and fast forwarding by finger touches.
For instance, if you want to listen to previous songs, what you need is just move your finger to the left. If you want to listen to next songs, on the other hand, what you have to do is just move your finger to the right. The control on volume is possible by moving fingers up and down. In addition, radio, picture, and E-book can be controlled only by finger touches.
Especially, the performance of E-book is outstanding. Utilizing the big screen, it provides lucid letters. Moreover, users feel like reading a real book by moving fingers to the left which could produce animation effects of real reading.
This is the P2's consummate skill that connects daily routines with amusement.
The same principle is applied to replay animation. It also has a good picture quality to see animations.
