Samsung Malaysia Electronics Celebrates with Underprivileged Children at Samsung Tech Central

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – 13 December 2012 – When it comes to celebrating any festivity, no group of people could celebrate it better or more enthusiastically than children can. As such, with Christmas being just around the corner, Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn. Bhd. held a fun-filled Christmas party for underprivileged children at Rumah Sayangan in Cheras, as part of its efforts to reach out and spread even more love, joy and happiness to the community this festive season.

Themed ‘The Joy and Colours of Life’, the event was attended by 55 children from Rumah Sayangan as well as selected homes from around the Klang Valley, Samsung team members as well as invited guests and media who were dressed in their most colourful attire, all ready to participate in the various activities planned throughout the party.

“Christmas for us at Samsung is much more than a season where we exchange gifts or indulge in great food. Although these are certainly good things to look forward to, nonetheless, we believe that Christmas should also be about others. One of the best ways we can show we care is by spending time with those who are less fortunate than ourselves and making their day a special one. And through The Joy and Colours of Life Christmas party at Rumah Sayangan, we get to do exactly that, colourfully!” stated Ms. Elaine Soh, Head of Corporate and Branding of Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

Within the gaily decorated home, the party was officially launched as colourful tags bearing messages and well-wishes by invited guests to the children were ceremoniously hung onto the Christmas tree and capped off by the placing of the ‘Star’ onto the top of the tree by two lovely kids from Rumah Sayangan, Shanisha and Monica.

The Joy and Colours of Life party was also highlighted by a delightful dance performance by the children from Rumah Sayangan, a variety of party games including 1..2..3, Passing the Rubber Band and Whisper among others, and a caroling session by the children.

Making the party an opportunity for the children to also acquire new technology skills, the children designed Christmas cards for the invited guests using the Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 and presented their artwork to the recipients as a token of appreciation during the caroling session.

Samsung’s Christmas party at Rumah Sayangan then ended with a sumptuous lunch with the children together with fellow guests and Samsung employees.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics launched their CSR campaign, ‘Samsung Hope For Children, Inspiring Better Futures’ mid this year by setting up a Samsung Tech Central at Rumah Sayangan to equip the kids with ICT and life coaching skills.
