[Galaxy S8/S8+] Why Samsung are using different AP Chipsets on Galaxy S8/S8+ device?

Last Update date : 2017.05.02

There are two reasons to use two different types of AP (MSM8998, Kangchen).

1) MSM8998 for the regions which needs to support CDMA because Exynos version doesn't
support CDMA.

According to differing regional network standards and launch national operator requirements,
S8/S8+ devices use optimized chipset for each region and it may differ by country. S8/S8+
devices consistently deliver a superb smartphone experience.

2) For securing stable component supply.

The performance of two AP is pretty much similar (they have the pros and cons of each other)
For example, Exynos has the dominant performance at multi core while Snapdragon has better
performance at single core.

GPU or CPU may be slightly dominant by AP Chipset however the performance difference is
negligible and there is no perceived difference
