Awards

  • Samsung ML-2855ND
    Outstanding Personal Monochrome Printer

Having given a superb showing throughout its intense lab evaluation, the Samsung ML-2855ND has been awarded the Autumn 2009 BLI “Pick” for “Outstanding Personal Monochrome Printer.” The unit, which has a rated speed of 30ppm and supports A4 output, proved to be highly reliable over the course of 25,000 impressions, with only one misfeed recorded but no service of any kind required. Simple to set up and use, including easy procedures for adjusting the drawers, loading paper and clearing jams, as well as a clean process for replacing the print cartridge, “the ML-2855ND provides great image quality that’s sure to meet the general office demands the unit’s being used for,” said BLI Senior Printer Analyst Marlene Orr. Text was cleanly formed and easily readable, with characters that were dark and sharp, solids were dark too, while line art and halftone range were rated very good.

  • About BLI’s Picks

Twice a year with its “Pick” awards, BLI gives special recognition in each category to those products that provided the most outstanding performances in BLI’s exhaustive lab tests.BLI’s awards stand alone in that they are based on a rigorous battery of lab tests that takes approximately two months to complete and includes an extensive durability test, during which each unit is run at half the monthly duty cycle over 15 days, with five days at the maximum daily volume. BLI’s durability test is unique among office product evaluations and uniquely qualifies BLI to assess reliability, which is a critical factor for buyers and IT directors, given that virtually all of the products are designed for use on networks.
