[Windows 8] How to divide or combine partitions in Windows 8.

     Splitting partitions

On the Windows 8 Start Screen, right click on empty space.

Choose 'All Apps' in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Click 'Control Panel' in the 'Windows System' folder.

Edit ‘View by’ settings to 'Category'.

Click 'System and Security'.

Click 'Administrative Tools' followed by double clicking

'Computer Management'.

Click 'Disk Management'.

Right click on C drive.

 

 

.

Click 'Shrink Volume’.

After you enter the amount of space you want to shrink,

and then click the "shrink" button.

Right click on 'Unallocated' drive.

Click 'New Simple Volume'.

Once the pop-up window appears, click 'Next' button.

Enter the partition name then click 'Next' button.

Click 'Finish’ button.

     Merging partitions

Right click on D drive from 'Disk Management’ in 'Computer Management'.

Click 'Delete Volume’.

 

 

.

On the 'Delete Simple Volume' window, click ‘Yes’.

 

.

Check to see if delete volume is completed.

 

.

 

Right click on C drive.

Click 'Extend Volume'.

Once the pop-up window appears, click 'Next' button.

Click 'Finish’ button.
