Switch from iPhone or iPad

The OTG cable will connect your iPhone cable from your iPhone/iPad to your new Galaxy device and allow a direct transfer of content.

Before you start make sure both devices are fully charged and that iMessage is disabled to avoid disruption to text messaging. Click here to find out how.

Don’t have a cable? Cables are available from Vodafone, 2degrees and selected major retailers. You can also visit one of our Kiosks.

Step 1 - Switch from iPhone or iPad using Cable

Get the On-The-Go (OTG) Cable

The OTG cable will connect your iPhone cable from your iPhone/iPad to your new Galaxy device and allow a direct transfer of content.

Before you start make sure both devices are fully charged and that iMessage is disabled to avoid disruption to text messaging. Click here to find out how.

Step 2

Download and Install Smart Switch

Download and install Smart Switch from Google Play or Galaxy Apps on your compatible Samsung device** and launch Smart Switch when installation is complete.

Download and install Smart Switch from Google Play or Galaxy Apps on your compatible Samsung device** and launch Smart Switch when installation is complete.

Step 3

Connect the two devices

Connect your iPhone/iPad to your new Galaxy device using the OTG cable and the USB cable from your iPhone/iPad (the same one used for charging).

Select "always" open with "Smart Switch" when prompted on your new Galaxy device.

Once the cables are connected, unlock your iPhone/iPad and select "Trust this computer" when prompted.

Step 3 - Switch from iPhone or iPad using Cable

Connect the two devices

Connect your iPhone/iPad to your new Galaxy device using the OTG cable and the USB cable from your iPhone/iPad (the same one used for charging).

Select "always" open with "Smart Switch" when prompted on your new Galaxy device.

Once the cables are connected, unlock your iPhone/iPad and select "Trust this computer" when prompted.

Device supported by Smart Switch Mobile for OTG cable: Apple (iOS® Version 5.0 or above).

Step 4

Transfer your content

Once the list of transferrable content loads, choose the content you wish to transfer to your new Galaxy device and then tap "Import".

This can take some time depending on how much content you have. Don't worry if the screen turns off as Smart Switch will continue to work in the background.

Once transfer is complete, head to the Google Play Store to start downloading all your favourite apps.

Step 4 - Switch from iPhone or iPad using Cable

Transfer your content

Once the list of transferrable content loads, choose the content you wish to transfer to your new Galaxy device and then tap "Import".

This can take some time depending on how much content you have. Don't worry if the screen turns off as Smart Switch will continue to work in the background.

Once transfer is complete, head to the Google Play Store to start downloading all your favourite apps.

Switch from an Android Device

Samsung Galaxy S6 users:
When you set up your new device, you’ll be prompted with a pop-up link to download the Smart Switch app. Tap "DOWNLOAD AND OPEN" to start the installation.
Other Samsung smartphone users:
Download the app on the Google Play Store or the Galaxy Apps store. Search for the app on either store on your device, and install to get started. Download on Google Play. You’ll also need to download the Smart Switch Mobile App on your old device.

Samsung Galaxy S6 users:

Connect your Blackberry™ or Symbian smartphone to your computer and back-up the content through the smartphone settings or options menu on your Blackberry™ or Symbian smartphone. Disconnect your Blackberry™ or Symbian smartphone once back-up is complete.
