How to update software on Galaxy smartphone

The timely software update of your phone is important to ensure its data safety and to maintain the phone’s efficiency. We recommend updating the software whenever a new version is available so you can make sure your device stays in tip-top shape.
Perform a software update
Software updates help:
- Improve the user experience

Follow these steps to update the software on your device.
Step 1. Go to Settings > tap Software update or System updates. It will vary between models.
Step 2. Tap Download and install.
Step 3. If an update is available it should begin downloading automatically, although you may need to tap Download on some devices.
Step 4. If new software is available, you can choose Install now, Schedule install, or Later.
Note:
- Your device is connected to a stable network.
- There’s enough storage space on your device.
- The phone has a sufficient battery above 50% before updating.
- Device screenshots and menus may vary depending on the device model and software version.
