Exynos 7 Series (7880) makes mobile experience highly enjoyable with enhanced performance and power efficiency thanks to the advanced 14nm FinFET process. 14nm FinFET Process

With advanced 14nm FinFET process technology, Exynos 7880 consumes up to 36%
less power than its predecessor built on 28nm HKMG process at the same
performance level. It enables battery life to be longer lasting while delivering drastically
improved performance thanks to an octa-core 64-bit CPU and an advanced GPU.
Samsung’s 14nm process uses FinFET structure, unlike the previous process’ planar structure. In a planar structure, gate is attached to the transistor on only one surface, whereas in a FinFET structure, gate is attached on three sides of the channel allowing more effective control of the current leakage than planar. Also, in planar structure, electrons can only move from source to drain through one surface under the gate, whereas in FinFET structure, electrons can move across three surfaces of the fin-shaped 3D structure. Furthermore, with 14nm process’ shorter gate length, which means shorter distance between the source and the drain, electrons need to move shorter distance enabling transistors to switch on and off quickly. Simply put, if the channel is a road, there are more number of lanes that are shorter in length. With more paths that are shorter in length, more electrons can move faster through the channel resulting in enhanced performance.
Faster and reliable communication
Exynos 7880 is equipped with an LTE modem that supports Category 7 offering 300Mbps downlink and 100Mbps uplink speed. In addition to
3CA(Carrier Aggregation) for downlink and 2CA for uplink that binds different bandwidths for using network faster and reliable, it also supports
FDD-TDD joint CA for better network flexibility.

Graphic intensive 3D games will come alive with powerful Mali-T830 MP3 GPU.
Ultra HD video playback and recording at 30fps in HEVC(H.265) and H.264 format are supported with the powerful MFC (Multi-Format Codec). To meet the current trend that demands powerful smartphone camera, Image signal processor (ISP) supports high resolution up to 21.7Mp for both rear and front cameras for an amazingly detailed photographs. User can enjoy all the visual experiences including game, video and photo on a vibrant and realistic WQHD high-resolution display.
