Samsung Exynos 7 Quad (7570) is a 4G LTE modem and connectivity integrated mobile processor built on 14nm FinFET process for budget smartphone. Being the first mobile processor in its class designed with advanced 14nm FinFET process, Exynos 7570 delivers enhanced performance and better power efficiency. The processor integrates Cat.4 2CA supporting LTE modem in addition to connectivity features including WiFi, Bluetooth, FM radio and GNSS for incredibly fast and fully connected mobile life anywhere and anytime.

14nm FinFET Process

Advanced process for

To improve the performance and efficiency of Exynos processors, Samsung has adopted the advanced 14nm FinFET process on not just the premium tier but all performances tiers from premium to low. The Exynos 7570, built on 14nm FinFET process, improved the performance up to 70% and reduced power consumption up to 30% from the predecessor built on 28nm.

Samsung’s 14nm process uses FinFET structure, unlike the previous process’ planar structure. In a planar structure, gate is attached to the transistor on only one surface, whereas in a FinFET structure, gate is attached on three sides of the channel allowing more effective control of the current leakage than planar. Also, in planar structure, electrons can only move from source to drain through one surface under the gate, whereas in FinFET structure, electrons can move across three surfaces of the fin-shaped 3D structure. Furthermore, with 14nm process’ shorter gate length, which means shorter distance between the source and the drain, electrons need to move shorter distance enabling transistors to switch on and off quickly. Simply put, if the channel is a road, there are more number of lanes that are shorter in length. With more paths that are shorter in length, more electrons can move faster through the channel resulting in enhanced performance.

The Exynos 7570 processor consists of 64-bit quad-core CPU that offers a perfect balance between performance and power efficiency. With the optimum performance of GPU and MFC, smartphone can run 3D graphic or play rich multimedia contents on a vivid display with resolution up to WXGA. Exynos 7570 features advanced ISP to support rear and front camera up to 13MP and 8MP respectively for high quality photo and diverse features including face recognition.

The Exynos 7570 is the first Exynos processor to fully integrate LTE modem and connectivity solutions that includes WiFi, Bluetooth, FM radio and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) in one chip. The integrated LTE modem supports Category 4 with 2CA (Carrier Aggregation) that offers seamless video streaming and web browsing.

The Exynos 7570 reduced the total chipset size by up to 20 percent by design optimization and feature consolidation of components such as PMIC(Power Management IC) and RF(Radio Frequency). It enables smartphone manufactures to design slimmer devices with more space available for battery.
