The intention was to build a smartphone-based information exchange system which utilises a specialised communication solution in order to build smoother collaborating environment between the information management department and the field support department for more elaborate managerial operation of the railway, which accounts for the core of transportation not only in Germany but also Europe-wide.

An optimum collaborating environment was achieved by combining the E-Switch Mobile Productivity Solution, a collaborative tool using specialised data-sharing, with powerful GALAXY S II. Through this, smooth communication was achieved between the administration department and the field support department, as well as more efficient resource management and second line support.

Aside from the existing method of communication by giving and receiving information through voice messages or SMS, it is now also possible to use multimedia for communication and collaboration. Through this, the administration department is now able to manage field manpower and other resources more efficiently and organise them to better suit the field situation. The second-line high-level engineers can also support more technical field manpower by saving time moving to the field. Business efficiency has increased as the working level manpower in the field can also make quicker and more accurate requests for second line support and resources.
