Recycling Batteries Responsibly
The European Directive on Batteries and Accumulators aims to minimise the impact of batteries on the environment and encourage the recovery of the materials they contain. In the UK, regulations on the recycling of batteries and accumulators (rechargeable batteries) were Introduced in 2009. The Waste Batteries Regulations aim to significantly increase UK collection and recycling of used portable batteries from 3% in 2007 to 25% by 2012, rising to at least 45% in 2016.
The battery symbol on a product or on its packaging indicates that the product must not be disposed of with general household waste. Instead, it is the consumer’s responsibility to dispose of their waste batteries at a designated collection point so that they can be recycled. The separate collection and recycling of batteries at the time of dispo sal will help to conserve natural resources and ensure that they are recycled in a manner that protects human health and the environment. A comprehensive list of battery recycling centres can be obtained from: www.recycle-more.co.uk
All Samsung products that are subject to the Batteries Directive are compliant with the UK battery and accumulator Requirements. In accordance with national law, SAMSUNG Electronics (UK) Ltd is a member of an approved batteries producer compliance scheme. This scheme collects, treats and disposes of batteries on Samsung’s behalf.

A high quality soundbar for a mid quality price
I bought this soundbar with the intention of using it on my lounge TV, a Samsung 42" UE. I have a home cinema setup in another room which has a full7.
1 surround sound system so I wasn't interested in rivaling that but purely wanted some bass to fill in where the TV's own sound is lacking. I'm certainly not disappointed in this soundbar as its loud enough and has a decent amount of bass from it's sub. Being bluetooth was a bonus really and whilst I don't have it any louder then when I used the TV speakers, the sound quality and clarity is much improved. The 3D "surround" sound is fairly disappointing, whether thats because I'm used to true surround sound or not I don't know but again, that wasn't why I bought this bar. My only real gripe is that I now have yet another remote control in the room, the TV's controller can't control the bar and neither can the sky remote.Show more +
I bought the product a few weeks ago because I was lucky enough to find it on clearance. Brought it home and plugged it in and it worked immediately, very clear sound and very easy instructions for setup.
I would recommend this sound bar to anyone!Show more +
Good sound quality but a couple of niggles on installation.
I bought the HWF550 sound bar and subwoofer to operate with my Samsung LCD TV, the aim being to improve audio quality and in particular voice quality.
Sound quality is pretty good, but there's a slight hollowness, which maybe due to the crossover region between the sound bar and the subwoofer. That said, its a massive improvement compared to the TV speakers, particularly for voice on various drama channels. Worth every penny that it cost, just to get that improvement in voice clarity. I would say the quality of voice is now 8/10 using the sound bar compared to 5/10 for the TV speakers. The sound bar and its sub woofer are nicely styled and a good match for the styling of the TV. The system looks good. All of the family can instantly hear the improvement in the clarity of voice during films and TV drama programs, etc. Installation was easy, but I had to try various connectivity schemes to (almost) remove the need to use the sound bar remote control. Now to explain my problems in trying to avoid having to use the sound bar remote at all, (like most people, I've already got way too many remote controls kicking around in my lounge). I know I could have bought a multi function programmable remote, but I didn't want to re-train my family to use a new remote! In theory, powering on the TV should power up the sound bar automatically, but I tried many different cable combinations without managing to avoid having to use the sound bar remote at some point. I could make the sound bar tune on automatically, by routing the HDMI feed from my Sky box through the sound bar, and then from the sound bar to the TV with a second HDMI cable. This has the slight disadvantage that if I use the TV receiver for the video source, I don't get sound through the sound bar, (the TV is around 2 years old, and it does not include ARC). If I also connect the DIN optical cable to get the audio from TV to sound bar, when I switch the sound bar to use the optical cable to use the TV audio, I loose the HDMI feed through on the sound bar , so the video dissappears. This is problem 1 - The HDMI feed through on the sound bar is only enabled when the HDMI input is selected as the audio source for the sound bar. This seems to me, to be an unnecesary restriction in the sound bar's software. Also, after power up using the HDMI signals (i.e., I turn on my TV and SKY box), the sound bar starts off in HDMI select mode, but after 5 seconds it resets to use DIN. So I still have to use the sound bar remote to switch the sound bar input selector back to HDMI. This is Problem 2. The sound bar defaults to DIN after a power up, even if the HDMI signal was the signal that caused it to power up in the first place. Pretty dumb! By far the easiest solution (i.e., its the default setting after powering on the sound bar) is to use the DIN optic cable, to pass the TV audio out to the sound bar. This also ensures that ALL the TV audio is passed to the sound bar, irrespective of the TV source - whether its using its internal receiver or any of the four HDMI input to the TV. All good. However, the problem with this setup is that the TV remote will not control the volume of the sound bar. The solution to this is to connect a spare HDMI input (with Anynet+ enabled) from the TV to the HDMI output on the sound bar. This now uses Anynet+ to send the TV volume settings out to the sound bar. (The TV must send volume control settings to all four HDMI inputs, not just the one that is selected as the source). I still have to use the sound bar remote, to power the sound bar on, but it then defaults to DIN to use the audio feed from the TV, and I can use the TV remote to control volume. Problem 3 is that the Subwoofer needs to be within 2-3m of the sound bar, it would not connect its RF link when placed 3m away.Show more +
Very easy to setup especially if you have TV compatible with Soundshare. Have placed this in a fairly small living room so the audio quality audio isexcellent.
