Overview of the Team:

The European Regional HQ HR Team is responsible for the supervision, integration and improvement of Samsung Electronics' HR operations across Europe. Our mission is to ensure that the company consistently recruits, retains and develops top talent within each of its regional subsidiaries in Europe. Currently our department is responsible for the supervision of 40 European offices including independent sales and marketing, production and R&D operations, which cumulatively employ thousands of people and generate many billions of pounds in revenue per year.

Our department covers five major areas, each of which are responsible for communciating with European operations on a daily basis. Firstly, our Planning section is responsible for HR strategic planning and management across all key HR activities, including compensation and benefits, assessment, talent management and systems administration. Planning is supported in this task by our Learning & Development group, which has the task of analysing development needs across the region and creating training and other programs that are designed to improve employee competencies at regional and subsidiary level. Our Recruitment section has the dual responsibility of recruiting for our European headquarters, while coordinating overall hiring processes and branding across Europe. We also have an internal regional HQ HR operations function, which manages approximately 300 persons across multiple sites. Finally, our HR Team is corporately responsible for improving Samsung's reputation as an attractive employer, both at headquarters and across Europe.

Overall, our department will expose you to a very wide range of situations and roles in a short space of time. We are looking for someone who has great analytical and presentational skills, and who is inspired by the chance to work in a constantly changing environment that places a premium on the rapid development of organisational, communication and creative skills.

Project Involvement:

  • Proactive involvement in Social Media (SNS) such as LinkedIn and Google+
  • Play a primary role in the recruitment of the 2013/2014 interns liaising closely with media agencies with the design of career fair stands, promotional merchandise and update of intern website , attend university careers fairs to promote Samsung Internship scheme, source intern applications
  • Work with HR operations team with management of bonus and salary reviews, promotion nominations, and job benchmarking
  • Help the L&D team with the planning, administration and coordination of the L&D top talent programmes
  • Carry out HR data analysis for HR planning team e.g. analyse GPMS results to check for a reasonable distribution across Europe and the provide reports back to Planning team and European HR Director

Overview of the Team:

Sitting within the wider Brand Team, The PR team is the key driver in the development of Samsung EHQ's Public Relations capabilities. It is responsible for day-to-day communication with the external PR Agency (Edelman), European subsidiary PR staff and selected media. The purpose of the team is to effectively enhance Samsung's image within key European media.

Project Involvement:

  • Internal Communications - preparation of European Marketing News (monthly report) and corporate credentials updates
  • B2B PR - working with B2B team and PR Agency to prepare and implement B2B PR campaigns/activities
  • Pan-European Event PR - assist in preparation of materials and onsite activity for events including European PR Meetings, European Forum and major shows like IFA and ISE
  • Issues Management and Crisis PR - ad-hoc activity in support of issues/crises as they arise
  • Liaise with European PR Network and Global PR Team in Korea
  • PR Agency - monitor activity against plan
  • Involvement with press visits to European factories such as the Poland R&D centre

Overview of the Team:

The European Digital Marketing team ensures Samsung's local subsidiaries have a flawless digital execution on both "always- on" and "campaign" management. The team also manages digital projects that require a more strategic & pan-european approach such as e-commerce and CRM.

While the local subsidiaries run the day to day digital marketing in the countries, the European Digital Marketing team takes a strategic view on "what's coming next", the implications for Samsung. This usually means a follow up with forward thinking exciting digital projects, lead by team with strong involvement of HQs and subsidiaries.

The Digital Marketing team is also in charge of monitoring pan european digital activity, to identify improvements on the different platforms (ex: samsung.com, SNS) and get meaninguful business insights

Key Objectives:

Overview of the Team:

The European Brand team is in charge of coordinating, improving and driving all elements that drive the brand. This ranges from CSR to sponsorships to implementing consumer trends.

While the local subsidiaries run the day to day marketing in the countries, the European Brand team takes a strategic view, tries to create synergies and drive best in class Marketing.

The team works closely with the local marketing teams throughout the region in order to get a holistic overview of the activities done by each subsidiary. It identifies best practices, improvement areas and takes action accordingly.

Overview of the Team:

The European Market Intelligence (MI team) is responsible for finding & delivering strategic insights and advice to Samsung Europe to improve business performance. This insight and advice is delivered through continuous and ad-hoc market research, analysis, consulting and reporting.

Our main activities can be grouped as follows:

  • Ad-hoc project management: Working with internal stakeholders to deliver research & consulting projects against their needs using external agencies
  • Continuous research program management: Project management, analysis and reporting for all continuous research (e.g. brand & channel trackers)
  • Strategic Analysis: Analysis to address strategic questions proposed by the business
  • Market & competitor intelligence: Ongoing analysis and reporting of key trends, insights, opportunities and threats based on market and competitor movements
  • Secondary data & Information management: Sourcing and management of market and competitor information to support the team in our day-to-day work

The team works across all product categories (TV/AV, Mobile, IT, Display, Home Appliances, Digital Imaging, Networks) for both B2C and B2B markets and serves a variety of internal stakeholders including European senior management, global and European HQ teams and country subsidiaries.

Key Objectives:

  • Produce and deliver regular European market update reports (e.g. weekly and monthly market share reporting) by analysing key performance data and updating reports with key insights
  • Support more senior team members with ad-hoc strategic analysis reports
  • Support more senior team members with the analysis and reporting of continuous research program outputs (brand & channel trackers)
  • Act as a key internal contact point for European market share data
  • Liase with key external data supplier

Overview of the Team:

Samsung Electronics' European Legal Team is responsible for delivery of all legal services to the European Headquarters and UK business of Samsung Electronics.

There are presently 9 members of the team: the European General Counsel, a Senior Legal Counsel, 2 Legal Counsels, an Assistant Counsel, 2 interns and 2 assistants. Support is also provided by Samsung's headquarters in Korea. There are a further 20+ lawyers based in other locations in Europe.

Key Objectives:

To support the legal team in its day to day operations. The role will be broad in nature, and will be similar to the role of a paralegal. It will involve tasks such as report generation, communicating with legal teams in Europe to collect information, and document collation. If the candidate has the requisite skills, the role may also involve the review and creation of legal documents, and carrying out legal research.

Personal Specification:

  • Strong academics and presently studying law or in possession of a law degree

Department: EHQ Treasury- Business Management Team

Overview of the Team:

The European Treasury Centre comprises of 8 team members with responsibility for operating and controlling all of the major treasury activities for the 28 subsidiaries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The European Treasury team is integral to the global treasury function and is at the forefront of developments within this increasingly strategic area. Whether it is handling the banking requirements, arranging funding for the business or managing financial risk, it is an exciting environment to be working in.

Key Objectives:

As a member of our small back office team you will be expected to work closely with the other members to support the many treasury services being provided.

In this demanding and challenging role, the Treasury Assistant will be required to:

  • Utilise the Treasury and banking systems to ensure the accurate input and timely preparation of data.
  • Check interest allocations and calculate interest reallocations for the subsidiaries within our cash pooling arrangements.

Project Involvement:

  • Checking monthly interest allocation calculations for bank accounts held in the zero balance and multi-currency cash pools.
  • Calculating interest reallocation amounts for the subsidiaries in the multi-currency cash pools.
  • Preparing monthly bank confirmations of outstanding transactions and bank balances.
  • Gathering cash transaction data from the treasury and banking systems.
  • Analysing differences between monthly forecasted and actual cash flows.
  • Inputting payment instructions on electronic banking systems.
  • Calculating the interest withdrawal costs and advising the relevant subsidiaries.
  • Filing money market and foreign exchange bank confirmations received.

Department: EACO - European Air Conditioning Operation

Overview of the Team:

EACO has 4 primary functions:

  • European product marketing for AC, heating and aircare products sold via the EU subsidiaries
  • Establishment of new sales channels and incubation of new distributors
  • Deep technical support to the market via distributors and sub technical teams
  • Logistics support for AC sales through stock holding, forecasting and order processing

We are responsible for the whole European market and a current overall headcount of 100 across all regions. Current opportunities exist in pre-sales, sales and marketing.

Key Department Objectives:

  • Key objective for 2012/13 is to achieve €300 million sales in Europe.
  • Product objectives are to expand our current offering into the Heating market utilising our EHS (Eco Heating System) which is a domestic heat pump.
  • Other objectives are to expand our sales channels to large installers and B2B such as hotel chains to exploit the synergies of AC and hotel TV team sales.

Overview of the Team:

The European Display Organization is in charge of Europe display business planning and strategy to drive Europe display sales. The product ranges include Large Format Display products, Cloud Display, Monitors, Surface and Hospitality Display.

The role of EDO is diverse from delivering the product marketing and sales strategy guideline, providing training with Europe subsidiaries, and managing global/ Pan-European customers.

The team works closely with the local sales & product managers throughout the region. It supports each subsidiary business in sales, marketing and technical aspects. It also identifies the best practice, improvement areas, and takes action accordingly.

Key Objectives:

  • Provide Marketing Intelligence on relevant product categories, including pricing, product, technology.
  • Provide detail analyses based on market data and information.
  • Prepare Market reports and other documents, using power-point and spreadsheet.
  • Organization of customers meetings, and preparation of materials including product and competitor information.
  • Data management of periodical market data from research companies.
  • Preparation and updating of various reports and presentations, e.g. Channel inventory report, Channel sales out report

Department: EITO- European IT Organisation

Overview of the Team:

EITO (European IT Organisation) is responsible for all Pan European printing and NotePC business activities including the development and management of Pan European distribution and reseller partners as well as managing Pan European (& world-wide) end user customers.

The business has achieved a level of success largely down to it's B2C activities. Future growth is dependent on continued innovation within our traditional B2C activities in addition to significant expansion of B2B Go-To-Market (GTM) activities.

EITO has a current headcount of 12 people split across sales, marketing & technical roles. EITO manages interaction with 16 subsidiaries within Europe & is directly aligned to our world-wide headquarters in Korea.

Key Objectives:

  • Support development of sales infrastructure to drive European B2B activities in order to significantly grow IT product category sales.
  • Work with marketing team to develop B2B activities & positioning.

Project Involvement:

Work with the existing sales team to support development of pan-European channel & end user activities.

Marketing:

  • Management of defined marketing activities - supporting B2B brand development.

Department: EVO - European Visual Office

Overview of the Team:

Samsung is the No1 in TV and AV for several years selling in Europe more TV's than No2 and 3 together.

The European Visual Office (EVO) is responsible for coordinating and supporting the European sales and marketing of TV (LED, Smart, 3D TV etc) and AV (Blu Ray Player and Home Theatre systems, Audio Docks) products in cooperation with HQ in Korea and 16 local subsidiaries. EVO is part of a +100 headcount HQ TV/AV sales and marketing organisation with currently a headcount in Europe of 8 people from 5 countries mainly focused on sales & distribution, product planning, product management and general marketing support.

EVO works purely at a strategic level, providing strategic development and close communication and cooperation with HQ and local subs. (All execution is done either in HQ or on a subsidiary level hence EVO has no contact with agencies and responsibility/involvement in creative material).

Key Objectives:

  • Support implementation of online marketing strategy for TV/AV products.
  • Support introduction of 2013 audio line up.
  • General team support e.g. administration

Project Involvement:

Work with the existing team to support:

Implementation of online product marketing strategy (not campaign), including:

  • Identify and support development of digital assets for 2013 TV/AV line up.
  • Support launch of online assets on Samsung.com, dealer and other third party websites.
  • Monitor status during launch and provide support to local subsidiaries in implementation.

Introduction of 2013 audio line up, including:

  • Collection of competitor information, benchmarking, pricing.

Department: ECC Technical Support

Overview of the Team:

ECC is the department within Samsung responsible for post sales support of all Samsung Electronics products within Europe, Technical Support is one of the key departments within ECC.

ECC Technical Support are a cross-functional team of product specialists, covering all aspects of European Service, including liason with product certification, environmental, finance, sales, marketing and legal departments throughout Europe.

We carry out weekly analysis of Service Data, and work with European Subsidiaries to ensure that KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are met.

We also cover the traditional roles of Training and Technical Support.

The team is a mixed group of graduates and non-graduates with extensive product experience and covers both management and technical functions.

Key Objectives:

  • Contributing to operational excellence of European Service at optimal cost, and maximising customer/consumer satisfaction.
  • Daily monitoring of questions sent by customers in regards to issues with Samsung products.
  • Monitoring competitors' press releases and providing feedback on any key developments.
  • Department support by way of administration and project work.
  • KPI management of Samsungs European Subsidiaries.
  • Performing statistical analysis on Business Intelligence data, providing a general overview of Subsidiaries performance in comparison to targets set by HQ.
  • Reviewing and formatting technical tips which are issued to Service Engineers across Europe.
  • Overseeing Service Engineers and Contact Centre Agent training and certification.
  • Collecting new questions from senior Engineers that can be used in quarterly examinations, which is distributed to call centre agents and service centre Engineers.
  • Formation of weekly reports - summarising tasks completed for the week in a clear concise report for the ECC Vice President.

Project Involvement:

  • AV (Audio Visual) Excellence 2012-13 - attend internal training - research service networks, customer satisfaction and training. Produce suggestions to improve customer satisfaction by 2% without cost increase.
  • Website improvement project - research Samsung European (and international) websites, and also competitor benchmark sites and report on simple changes to improve customer satisfaction by 1% over the year.
