    David Follett
    TORCHBEARER
In 2008, David was a fit 19-year-old sportsman in the final year of his A Levels when, as a pedestrian, he was hit by a car. The impact broke his neck, leaving him paralysed from the chest down. He spent eight months in hospital before being discharged to an adapted flat. He returned to college and completed his A-levels and has just graduated with a Fitness and Coaching Foundation degree. He also looked into what sports were available to wheelchair athletes and has since helped set-up a badminton club, which is now the largest wheelchair badminton club in the UK. With his playing partner they are unbeaten for three years in the 4 Nations competitions.
