Working with key partners to bring handheld Computing to education via the Building schools for the future foundation
10th October 2007 Annual Handheld Learning Conference, England - SAMSUNG Electronics, a global leader in digital convergence technologies, today unveiled an optimised version of its SAMSUNG Q1Ultra UMPC, making the possibility of classroom based handheld learning a reality.
By working together with Intel, Microsoft and key local educational authorities, SAMSUNG is able to develop an optimised UMPC that meets the technology needs of every student at an affordable price for the educational community.
Centered on mobility and functionality, the Q1Ultra is one of the smallest and lightest computers available. Weighing only 840g and under 23.5mm deep the Q1Ultra comfortably fits in the palm of your hand, but still offers the communications, entertainment and performance functionality of a conventional notebook PC.
The Q1Ultra for education delivers exceptional performance with state of the art intel processor technology, 1GB of memory and a large 40GB hard disk, as well as running Microsoft’s Windows XP Tablet Edition. The Q1Ultra also features a Super Bright 7” WSVGA (1024x600 and 300 nit brightness) LCD monitor, so it can be used on the move or connected to any monitor and the full screen displayed with perfect resolution. You can even add touch screen functionality for extra convenience when multitasking. The Q1Ultra also features an integrated QWERTY keyboard, so accessing office applications, email and presentations is easier than ever.
With enhanced battery performance, the Q1Ultra’s improved battery life means you can keep working for longer - up to 6 hours on the extended 6 cell battery. In addition, the Q1Ultra features the latest communication technologies, including 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11b/g wireless LAN, and Bluetooth 2.0, so you can connect to the Internet or share information wherever you are.
Add to this a dual camera capability, that offers a convenient way to take classwork or personal pictures and stay in touch with colleagues, friends or family using video-conferencing or live messaging.
For the ultimate in convenience, other accessories available for the Q1Ultra include an external optical disk drive, stylus pen, extra battery and a choice of carry cases.
