How do I use the edge panel?

The edge panel keeps the most important features of your phone tucked to one side, ready to use at a moment's notice. You can use the edge panel to access your favourite contacts, apps, and webpages alongside loads more. The edge panel can appear over apps you are using and can even be accessed when the display is on standby, making sure you have everything you need as soon as you need it.

How do I use the edge panel?
1 Swipe up on the home screen, to access your apps

6 Tap the switch at the top, to turn edge panels on

7 All of the currently available edge panels will be displayed. Tap on each panel that you would like to use. You can choose a maximum of ten edge panels

8 Once you've chosen your edge panels, tap the home button

9 The edge panel handle will appear at the side of the screen. Swipe the handle towards the centre of the screen to open your edge panels

11 Tap on the edge panel feature that you want to use

12 If the feature that you're looking to use doesn't appear, tap the + icon or edit

If you have a lot of apps on your device, it can be difficult to find the ones that are the most important to you. The app edge panel allows you to save up to 10 apps to the side of your screen so that they can be launched in seconds. You can also use the edge panel to create app pairs. App pairs launch two apps at the same time in split screen view, helping you be more productive than ever.

Please note: you will need to add the apps panel to the edge screen before it can be used. If you can't find the apps panel, go through the Get started with the edge panel steps to add it

4 If you can't see the app you want to use, tap the + icon Edit

5 Tap the - above any app that you want to remove from the edge panel

6 Tap any app that you want to add to the edge panel

7 If you'd like to open two apps simultaneously, tap Create App pair

8 Tap on the two apps you want to open in split screen. The first app you tap will appear at the top of the screen and the second will appear at the bottom

Please note: only apps that can be opened in split screen view will appear. If you can't find the app you want to use, it may not be multi window compatible

10 If you'd like to change the order of the apps on the edge panel, drag them to your preferred position

The people edge panel places ten of your contacts within easy access. The people that you contact the most will be suggested for the edge panel, but you can add whoever you want. Once your contacts are added to the panel, you can send them a text or call them from the panel.

4 Tap Allow to give the edge panel permission to access your phone and message apps. This is required to use all the features of the people edge panel

6 Tap each of the contacts you want to add to the edge panel. You can add a maximum of 10 contacts

12 Two icons will appear, one for phone calls and one for messages. Tap the icon that matches how you want to communicate with your contact

Tasks can quickly take you to a specific feature of an app, such as writing a message, adding an event or creating a contact. There are loads of handy tasks already created for the edge panel. but you can also create your own shortcut with compatible apps.

6 Some apps allow you to save shortcuts to your home screen. For example, you can save route shortcuts through Google maps. Tap on any home screen shortcuts you want to add to your edge panel

How do I use the edge panel?

The internet panel gives you access to five of your favourite webpages. To place a webpage on the edge panel, you must first bookmark it on the Samsung Internet app. Find out more about using the Samsung Internet app.

Each of the pre-installed edge panels makes accessing certain features on your device quicker and easier. If you're looking to use a feature that's not included, you may be able to download a new edge panel that includes it. On the Galaxy Store there are loads of edge panel apps that you can download to give you complete customisation.

4 Tap on any Edge panel you would like to use

5 You will be taken to the Galaxy Store page for the edge panel. Tap Install to download the edge panel

6 Once installed, open up the edge panel settings and tap on your new panel to use it

By default, the edge panel handle will appear on the right side of the screen. If you prefer holding your phone in your left hand, you can change this to better suit your needs. You can also change the colour of the handle, how high up the screen it appears and the size and transparency.

3 Tap the more options icon. It will appear as three dots at the top right of the screen

5 Tap Left or Right to choose which side of the screen the edge panel handle will appear on

6 Drag the edge screen handle up or down to change where on the screen the handle will appear

7 If you would like to keep the handle in this position, tap Lock handle position
To prevent the handle from being moved, tap Lock handle position
8 You can change the colour of the handle by tapping any of the colour options

9 Adjust the transparency and size of the handle by dragging the sliders

10 By default your device will vibrate when you use the handle. Tap Vibrate when handle is touched to turn this feature on or off
