OneDRAMâ„¢ in Samsung Multimedia Phone, with Others to Follow
Samsung announced that its 512Mb OneDRAMâ„¢ is being used in its new SGH-L870 handset and will be produced for other smart phones later this year. Samsung has also begun sampling a 1Gb OneDRAM with major handset OEMs.
OneDRAM enables a ten-fold increase in the data processing speeds between communication and application processors. The OneDRAM interface channels data between the processors through a single chip, eliminating the need for DRAM and SRAM chips as buffer memory.
The benefits of OneDRAM will be particularly evident in high-speed mobile networks, as well as in the transmission of 3D graphics, high-def video and high-pixel imaging in applications processing large volumes of data at ultra-high speeds.
