SAMSUNG produces a wide range of consumer electronics devices with some of the latest in cutting-edge technologies. SISA believes that software, in particular higher-level software such as middleware and services, is a key component of this evolving technology landscape. With this software, we believe it will be possible to make devices much easier to use, and to use those technologies pervasively inside and outside the home to the advantage of the consumer.
To that end, SISA is involved in: (1) Solutions for a wide range of products from white goods (such as refrigerators) to home AV goods (e.g. TVs) to mobile communication, (2) pragmatic solutions that are not only novel, but that could be in the market 3-5 years from initiation, (3) prototype solution using a variety of technologies with the goal for these prototypes to evolve into pre-products in the various R&D and product divisions throughout SAMSUNG - by taking this prototype approach and maturing them to work that can be transferred, we can try out new ideas, and also solidify them into work that can eventually be transferred to products, and (4) standardization by representing SAMSUNG in a wide range of standardization bodies in the space of middleware and pervasive computing - doing so allows us to contribute to those efforts and effectively contribute to the technology.
