SAMSUNG Electronics launched the Health and Safety Committee to doubly ensure healthy and safe workplaces across the Company. The health and safety in all manufacturing lines has been improved significantly with the implementation of a safety check prior to operation, as well as a campaign for workplace hygiene. These efforts have been recognized at home and abroad with various awards and certifications for the company.

Besides the legal inspections, SAMSUNG Electronics secures safe operation of machinery and equipment by applying periodic and everyday inspections. These inspections include the post inspection of Environment & Safety standard inspection in and out the country, in house inspection,
everyday facility checking, and overall checking on Environment and Safety Day. For processing lines and machinery showing defects in safety concerns, the environment and safety team carries out a special safety inspection. To meet legal and in-house requirements, the Company applies post machinery safety analysis and risk factor detection, from the procurement of dangerous machinery and equipment, to construction and installation planning, to operational stages. For instance, safety guidelines have been established for nine kinds of machinery and equipment inducing safer construction. For each of the 652 kinds of dangerous machinery and equipment already in operation, a history card and safety devices are set up to perfect post safety management. For transport vehicles, safety standards and an in-house license system have been implemented, and a LOTO (lock out, tag out) system has been introduced to secure safety of the machinery and equipment in the case of operational malfunction.
