guidelines


General Format

  • Any undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in domestic or overseas universities are eligible (Class of 2007 graduates are also eligible).
  • The paper should be a pure or applied science thesis related to engineering. The paper should include research results. Submitted papers may not have been published prior to December 3, 2007.
  • A panel of judges will select the winners through a formal review process. The judges may demand partial correction, summary and/or supplement.

Detailed Thesis Format

  • Submit only one of the following word processing programs : Hun98/2000, Hangul or MS-Word. (If you write a paper with other software, convert the file to PDF format.)
  • The paper should be organized in the following manner :
    1) abstract; 2) main body; 3) bibliography; and 4) appendix.
  • Please upload the submitted paper on the Humantech Thesis Prize homepage
  • The paper may be written in either Korean or English
  • The paper should be no longer than 30 pages (including pictures and tables, but not including appendix).
  • Use A4 or letter sized paper.
  • The paper should not reveal any information about the student's school or personal identity.
  • The paper format should be one-columned.
  • Use
      Myong-Cho-Chae for Korean and Times New Roman for English
      11 font size
      SI units (international system of units : m, kg, s, A, etc.).
  • The paper should be double-spaced. The side margins should be 25mm each; the top and bottom margins should be 30mm each.
  • Abstract should be written in English maximum 200 words).
  • The title should come before the main body of the paper (use 18 point size for Korean, use 14 point size for English). Leave a 50mm space at before the title.
  • Use Roman Numerals(i.e., I, II, III, etc.) for chapters, and Arabic numerals(i.e., 1, 2, 3, etc.) for paragraphs
  • Insert the pictures and tables accordingly throughout the text of the main body. Refer to pictures as "Fig. 1: Title", "Fig. 2: Title", "Fig. 3: Title", etc., and such references should be written underneath the respective pictures. Refer to the tables as "Table I: Title", "Table II: Title", "Table III: Title", etc., and such references should be above the respective tables. The description of the pictures and tables should be sufficiently detailed so that a reader may understand the tables and pictures without reading the main body.
  • The references should be attached after the main body. Every citation should be noted in a numerical order.
  • The citation number should be bracketed ([]).
