Taking a broad view of the Company’s contribution to the Korean Economy in 2005, the Company’s 18.8trillion Korean Won in value adds represented 2.3% of the national GDP, and US$ 46.56 billion in export reached 16.4% of the total amount of national export. In the equity market, SAMSUNG Electronics market capitalization amounted to 108.3 trillion Korean Won, representing 16.5% in 2005.

This is clear evidence of SAMSUNG Electronics being a main driving force behind the Economic development of the country. SAMSUNG Electronics is keenly aware that it owes much of its success to the support of the national and global communities. Therefore, the Company is pleased to share corporate profits with communities far and wide.

government subsidies

In the past three years, SAMSUNG Electronics has not accepted any form of Government Subsidies Social contribution.
The Company supports non-profit organizations for their social activities and welfare programs in the form of direct donations, funds, and partial sponsorship. When employees participate in social welfare and cultural programs, the Company also covers partial or full expenses. The social contribution Budget is allocated largely in six area: social welfare, culture and arts, academic research, environment preservation, international exchanges, and volunteer programs. About 120,000 employees participated to volunteer work of 410,000 hours and we gave 211.5 billion won away for social contribution.
