Many countries have voluntary eco-label programs to encourage businesses to market environment-friendly products and help consumers, both private and public buyers, identify eco-friendly products easily on the market. Samsung Electronics’ products have been recognized for their eco-friendly design and technology, achieving eco-labels in many markets around the world. Below are some examples of Samsung’s eco-labeled products.
By the year 2010, Samsung Electronics had achieved a total of 2,210 externally verified product environmental certifications. This means Samsung Electronics has the highest number of third party certifications out of 219 companies in the electronics industry.
Eco-Label (Korea)The Korea Eco-labeling Program started from April 1992. It is a voluntary certification program that endorses eco-products based on good quality and performance, as well as eco-friendliness through their entire life cycle.
Environmental Labelling (China)The Chinese eco-mark has been awarded by the State Environmental Protection Administration of China (SEPA), officially publishing the figures for Environmental Label since August 1993
Green Label (Taiwan)Taiwan’s Green Mark is awarded to products that have been verified to meet criteria for recyclability low pollution and resource saving. This certification has made a significant contribution to environmental protection.
Nordic Swan (Nordic Union)The Nordic Swan is the official eco-label for Nordic countries, introduced by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
Blue Angel (Germany)The Blue Angel is the oldest environmental label for products and services in the world. It is awarded to distinguish the positive environmental features of products and services on a voluntary basis.
Eco-Flower (EU)Established in 1992, the EU “Eco-flower" is a certification scheme aimed to help European consumers distinguish greener, more environmentally friendly products and services. All products bearing the "Flower" have been verified by independent bodies as complying with strict ecological and performance criteria.
EPEAT (U.S.A)EPEAT is a system that helps purchasers evaluate, compare and select electronic products based on their environmental attributes.
TCO (Sweden)The first TCO standard, TCO'92 was launched on September 1, 1992 in Berlin.
TCO certification makes it easy to choose technology designed for both usability and the environment, and ensures the electronic product is designed for the environment and high performance.
Environmental Choice (Canada)This program was established by Environment Canada in 1988 with over 300 categories of products to help consumers identify services/products which are less harmful to the environment.
Samsung Product Eco-Declaration
Samsung Electronics provides the Product Eco-Declaration (PED) of all products to stakeholders upon request. The PED contains environmental information on products regarding specifications, energy and discarded product recycling activities.
