7 Tips to Help You Go Green

1. Look for the ENERGY STAR Label

More than 600 Samsung products, such as flat-screen TVs, LCD monitors, laptops, washing machines, printers and multi-function devices, carry the ENERGY STAR label. Products like our LED TVs consume 60 percent less energy than conventional LCD sets and exceed ENERGY STAR V.3.0 requirements by more than 50% on average.

2. Load Up on Savings

Filling up your dishwasher and clothes washer with full loads will help you save energy and lower those utility bills.

The large capacity 4.3 cu. ft. Steam Washer (WF520ABP) fits up to 31 (24” x 44”-sized) bath towels so you can save time by washing more at once. You’ll do fewer loads, which means you’ll save water and electricity.

3. Don’t Throw It Away—Recycle

If you’re ready for a technology upgrade, think twice about just throwing out your old stuff. Samsung has built the most comprehensive national recycling program in the electronics industry.

Samsung Recycling Direct® is a partnership between Samsung and respected recycling and takeback companies that adhere to strict standards including, not to incinerate e-waste, send it to solid-waste landfills or export it to developing countries. There are over 1,000 fixed drop-off locations located in all 50 states that accept Samsung products (except appliances) for no fee.
Samsung also teamed up with the U.S. Postal Service to create the S.T.A.R. (Samsung Takeback and Recycling) program, an easy way for consumers and businesses to send back their empty Samsung toner cartridges, which can create a significant source of hazardous waste in the environment.

4. Look for Products Made of Reused Materials

If you recycle, then why not complete your eco journey with products made from those recycled items.

The Samsung Replenish™ and Samsung Restore™ phones are both made with recycled plastics and are free of hazardous substances.

5. Forget the Fancy Packaging

When shopping, look for products that use less packaging or recycled materials.

Some of our cell phones, including the Samsung Reclaim™ and Samsung Evergreen™ QWERTY Keypad Cell Phone, are packaged with Earth-friendly materials such as recycled paper and soy ink and even have a virtual user guide instead of a printed paper guide. Once you’ve unpackaged your products, don’t forget to recycle the packaging!
Our thinner LED TVs require less packaging and take up less room, which allows us to ship more per trip, cut fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

6. Get a Sense for Eco-Efficiency

How you use your everyday electronics and appliances can make a difference. By adjusting your TV’s settings or printing on both sides of the paper you can save energy and reduce waste. Even better, Samsung has products with eco features that can help.

Printers like Samsung’s Black & White Laser Printer (ML-3712ND) have an Eco button that customizes your printer output so you save on toner and paper. Its unique Result Simulator shows you exactly how much CO2, electricity and paper you save with your selected settings.

The 7.5 cu. ft. Steam Electric Dryer (DV520AEP) has a smart sensor that detects moisture levels in the laundry and adjusts the drying time accordingly. No wasted drying time means not wasting extra money on your utility bill.

Samsung TVs, including the 55" Class (54.6" Diag.) LED 8000 Series Smart TV, feature an Eco light sensor that measures the intensity of the room’s light and automatically calibrates the brightness of the image on the screen. This optimizes the viewing experience while also saving you a little energy.

7. Wash Clothes with Cold Water

Much of the energy used in washing is to actually heat the water. By using cold water, you’ll save money and your clothes.
