Why did Samsung make a 7" tablet? Because we’re into mobility and know that people are looking for compact communication and entertainment devices they can slip in their pocket and bring on the go. The Galaxy Tab is always connected, lightweight and smart—providing the ultimate mobile experience.

What Makes the Galaxy Tab Truly Mobile?

With 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth® 3.0, the Samsung Galaxy Tab takes mobile communication to a whole new level. By combining Samsung innovation with the Android OS 2.2, the Tab is truly an always on communication and entertainment tool. Its large battery (4,000 mAh) provides more than 7 hours of movie viewing time and because it’s powered by a Cortex A8 1.0GHz application processor, it’s designed to deliver high performance.

Increased Productivity on the Go

Experience PC-like web-browsing and enjoy all forms of multimedia content on the perfectly sized 7” display from anywhere as well as enjoy continuously communication via e-mail, and video call, or social networking with the Galaxy Tab's optimized user interface. At 7” it’s designed to fit in one hand but it’s easy to type on the Tab using a two hand thumb type style or by using SWYPE input technology.

Front- and Rear-facing Camera

As online content and creativity explodes, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is the best portable solution for every lifestyle that needs a constant connection. The device’s front facing camera allows for video chat with friends and business partners around the world. And, the rear-facing 3 megapixel camera with flash captures still images and video that that can be edited, uploaded and shared, in and from the Tab.

Watch Video, Read and Play Games on the Go

Its striking 7” TFT-LCD display delivers exciting mobile experience for watching films, viewing pictures, e-reading or sharing documents. Supporting the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.1, the Samsung Galaxy Tab fully supports swift, seamless viewing of every single page of the web. Flash support provides excellent video and gaming capabilities.

At the same time, HD video content is supported by a wide range of multimedia formats (DivX, XviD, MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and more) which maximizes the joy of entertainment.

Media Hub: Buy Content Once and Share Across GALAXY Devices

At the same time, Samsung has unveiled the Media Hub, a gateway to a world of films and videos, and Music Hub, an application giving access to a wide range of music tunes. Media Hub customers who purchase content to permanently own can share that content with five devices enabled with Media Hub at no extra cost.

Google Play™ and Google Mobile Services

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is packed with services to complement and enhance life in different ways. There is access to Google Play to download apps and personalize devices infinitely, as well as pre-loaded applications that are uniquely designed and optimized for Samsung smartphones and smart media devices.

Services like Google Maps™ Navigation (Beta) and Google Goggles are available on Google's Android platform. With useful location-based services like Google Maps, search works using Standard English instead of entering an exact address. A search-by-voice function is just as intuitive, meaning searches can also be completed easily on the go. Google Goggles is a powerful, visual search tool that uses the Samsung Galaxy Tab's camera to uncover information – an image of a landmark or artwork is automatically used to perform a search, delivering relevant content like a description or history. In addition, with a camera, users can enjoy various augmented reality services which are downloadable in the application market.

  • Just wonder if Samsung can roll out in future a battery-powered portable LCD (e.g.9-inch) like a Galaxy Tab but without CPU processing power, which acts as a bigger touch screen piggybacking a mobile phone to mimick a tablet at lower price and reduce redundancy of computer electronics in both phone+tablet nowadays.

  • I am a middle aged, fairly tech-savy consumer. I researched wi-fi tablets for months before I bought my wi-fi only Galaxy Tab 7. This tablet meets ALL of my requirements. It surfs the net fast and the size is PERFECT for a person on the go. A 10.1 screen is a nice luxury if you are sitting on the sofa but I needed a tablet to be handy and come with me. A 7" tablet is the perfect size to slip in my back pocket when I get out of the car and leaves my hands free. When I want to surf I hold it in landscape orientation and use my fingers and pinkies as an easel. I use my thumbs to type, scroll through web pages and pinch to zoom. The Galaxy Tab shows me popular websites in mobile form but even when I switch to desktop site is renders the page well and seems to fit it to the screen size and I can view an almost full width web page and still read it easily with my middle aged eyes. This tablet works flawlessly with many popular web sites and I tested it with The Drudge Report, The Wall St Journal, Amazon and eBay and because it is a touchscreen the response and experience is much more immediate than using a physical keyboard and mouse. In portrait orientation I can surf, scroll and type while holding it one handed. This is almost impossible with a larger tablet. Being an Android device allows me to customize it to make my experience more personal and work better for me according to my taste. After playing around with numerous apps I can say that a few besides the typical email and social network apps make this device VERY useful.Thinkfree Office and DropBox are amazing tools for some productivity on the go. Two apps have made my Galaxy Tab SING and have given new usefulness to my older HTC Magic phone. Boat Browser Mini is the simplest, fastest feature packed browser which I use CONSTANTLY and the new TouchPal Keyboard makes me a lightning fast communicator. I text at a snails pace on older cell phones but this app is FAST....and its second screen to manipulate text such as highlighting, cutting and pasting is the best I have ever used. If I had to pick one feature that I wish my Galaxy Tab had, it would be a truly transflexive screen like the one being made by Pixel Qi to give it almost an ePaper look outdoors as well as vastly improving battery life by being able to turn off the backlighting......but I am happy to report that I can get enough brightness in full sun to get good use out of my Galaxy Tab by just changing the angle of my Tab to shade it a little. An external usb 2.0 and usb mini would have been handy too for using peripherals and flash drives. I am lucky that I do not experience any of the issues that carrier specific Tab owners seem to have. As long as needed updates are provided by Samsung to keep up with progress on the internet, I should be able to use this tablet easily as my primary device while on the go for a few years to come. Good job Samsung! Chris V. Keene NH, USA

  • After 5 month of trying very hard I still have a very hard time to use the tablet. I received very little help from any Verizon store, in fact, most of the technician have very little experience with it themself. Sometimes it will not connect or work, very user unfriendly. I bought it because of the smaller size but I am ready to get the Apple 2 tablet. I am very unhappy about this product. Only if you have extensive experience it might work for you
