Notebook vs. Netbook: Choosing the Best Business Computer

Energy-efficient Monitors

  • Published September 16, 2010

See what LED–backlit monitors can do for your business. You’ll learn what’s new, what’s better, and why it matters. With better performance, breakthrough picture quality, ultra-slim design and lower energy use, a new breed of monitors is changing how we use our computers.

CCFL vs. LED

All light is not created equal. Take the sources that illuminate your monitor, for example. Conventional light source technology, CCFL (Cold cathode fluorescent lamp), does a good job of illumination, but can have serious drawbacks. It’s bulky and wastes valuable space (since you need room for both the lamps and a reflector), and can contain mercury, which is bad for the environment. It also uses more energy than LED monitors, and has a limited lifespan, resulting in added costs for your business. LED backlighting is a newer technology that delivers many benefits while conserving energy and space. Samsung’s advanced LED-lit monitors are brilliant examples of the many advantages of this advanced technology.

Make a Brilliant Decision

Whether you’re preparing your latest proposal or touching up an image, picture quality matters, and that can be a serious concern with CCFLs. Since CCFLs span the entire width of the screen, precise control over contrast ratio is difficult. However, you can achieve much higher contrast ratios with LED lights and enjoy great picture quality for your presentations. LED lights are locally dimmed, so you can dim certain areas of the screen while keeping other areas bright. The result is a higher contrast ratio, which creates a better picture, and offers potential energy savings.

Be Environmentally Responsible

In addition to category-leading performance, LED monitors represent some of the best examples of corporate responsibility brought to product level. Unlike CCFLs, LED-lit monitors contain no mercury, halogen or lead. That makes them safe for the environment when the time comes to recycle them. The thoughtful design is carried through to more efficient use of all materials. And they’re extremely energy-efficient, using 30 to 50 percent less power than conventional monitors.

LED monitors are brilliantly capable of providing your business with an energy-efficient, absolutely reliable solution that meets your needs and offers an impressive return on your investment—not to mention making a positive environmental impact.

From their initial design until the end of their incredibly useful life, LED monitors offer the leading edge of performance, reliability and responsibility.
