Holidays are a great time for making videos, and a video camera makes for a welcome and affordable gift. Whether they’re filming kids on Christmas morning, or an impromptu snowball fight, owners of Samsung’s W300 Pocket Camcorder will always capture the moment perfectly.
C apturing great video means always being prepared―and putting yourself in the thick of whatever action is going on. You may not be so eager to do that with a pricy still camera or cell phone. What if you drop it in a puddle or it takes a snowball head on? Here’s the easy solution: Samsung’s W300 Pocket Camcorder. Here are some of the camcorder’s key features.
"...stow it in a back pocket, a purse or a backpack, so it’s always within reachwhen the perfect video moment arises."
W ith the W300 in hand, anyone can capture those holiday moments, whether it’s a clear day or a white Christmas. These tips will help you get the best video every time.
Get Down With Your Subjects. Shooting on Christmas morning often means that dad is on the couch with the camera, while the kids are under the tree in the corner. But there’s a much better way to create memorable videos. When you’re making videos of children, get down to their level―literally―and shoot from their height. This helps to capture what their holiday experience is really like, and the resulting footage feels more personal.
"With 1080p HD video recording built in, you’ll get the highest quality movies available today."
Holiday stories are told in faces, not settings. If you want to get a shot ofthe tree, make sure someone is doing something in front of it. As with still photography, get as close as possible to your subject when you shoot. Can’t get quite close enough? Use the 3x digital zoom on the W300to narrow the distance.
Brightly lit snow can wreak havoc on a camera’s optics. You can take a snow-covered background into account on the W300 by turning on the Back Light function, which will keep your subject from appearing dark and shadowy. Find this option under the Display menu.
There’s no reason to capture every last second of the holiday. You’ll end up with hours and hours of footage that will be too much trouble to edit and too boring to watch. Instead, record only truly worthwhile scenes and experience the rest of the holiday with your own two eyes. In the end, your holiday video should be no longer than 10 to 15 minutes, or even shorter. The W300’s Pause feature described above makes this a snap.
