As a Samsung Solve for Tomorrow partner, the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is working with Samsung to create a measurable impact on the ability of students to use Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to solve practical environmental problems.
While Samsung focuses on technology innovation, NEEF focuses on environmental education, improving educational opportunities, connecting Americans to nature and promoting lifelong environmental learning in schools, businesses and communities. They also understand that STEM education and a passion for the environment go hand in hand, and are important values to instill in young students.
NEEF is excited to be working with Samsung to help them reach students and teachers through the Solve for Tomorrow effort. Through its programming and grants, NEEF is helping Americans to spend more time outdoors, improve the health of children, protect their local environment and be stewards for public lands. And it’s helping students and teachers integrate environmental education into core subject areas to solve real-world problems in their communities.
To pursue environmental education even further, Samsung is proud to highlight National Environmental Education Week—a NEEF initiative that will take place from April 10–16, 2011. It is one of the nation's largest environmental education events. Started in 2005, and held each year the week before Earth Day, National Environmental Education Week is already reaching millions of students and educators nationwide with a focused week of environmental learning that includes field trips, classroom lessons and school-wide programs.
National Environmental Education Week 2011 will focus on the world’s oceans and our shared connection to them no matter where we live.
Together, Samsung and NEEF are committed to stirring up a passion for STEM education, and to help students understand and protect the wonder in their everyday lives.
