The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized Samsung for leadership in protecting the environment with its highest ENERGY STAR® Award: The 2013 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award.

At Samsung, our commitment to developing the most cutting-edge home electronics and appliances includes an ongoing dedication to offering products that set new standards for energy efficiency and sustainability. This year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized our efforts with one of its highest honors: the 2013 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award.

Our Sustainability Initiatives

The EPA chose Samsung for the Sustained Excellence Award from nearly 20,000 U.S. organizations participating in the ENERGY STAR program, recognizing sustainability initiatives that include:

  • 1,435 ENERGY STAR-qualified products, including four that received the Eco-Design and Sustainability Award from the Consumer Electronics Association.

  • More ENERGY STAR-qualified televisions and clothes washers than any other consumer electronics brand.

  • Raising awareness of the importance of energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction with nationwide consumer programs, including events at the Boys & Girls Club of America throughout the year.

  • Working at the retail level with employees and distributors to create training programs that stress the importance of energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Samsung and ENERGY STAR

Speaking about the 2013 Sustained Excellence Award, Bob Perciasepe, Acting Administrator of the EPA said, “Samsung Electronics leads the field with their commitment to energy efficiency and demonstrates how all Americans can save energy, save money, and create a healthier environment.”

With ENERGY STAR’s help in the past 20 years, American families and businesses have saved more than $230 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 1.8 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, which is equal that from more than 350 million vehicles.

A proud ENERGY STAR partner since 1996, this year marks the fifth consecutive year Samsung has been honored for providing energy-efficient products that have reduced consumption and helped Americans save on energy costs. As winner of the prestigious Sustained Excellence Award, Samsung is recognized for ongoing leadership across the ENERGY STAR program.

In 2013 and beyond, Samsung’s continuing dedication to innovative design and state-of-the-art technology will ensure that all of our products offer unparalleled performance while conserving energy and helping you save money.
