GDDR5 – Vividly Vibrant
Enabling the Most Advanced 3D Graphics
Samsung's GDDR5 memory – the fastest graphics memory in volume production today – delivers a peak bandwidth of up to 28 GB/second. OEMs are able to save power, space and cost for their graphics board designs, while gaining outstanding performance for 3D and other intense graphics applications. Just 16 Samsung 2 Gb GDDR5 chips can be combined to provide a density of 4 GBs. Samsung GDDR5 provides the most reliable and highest performing solution for the widest array of high-end graphic applications – from storage devices, digital TVs, set-top boxes and networking equipment to high-end computers, gaming systems, workstations and graphics cards.
Performance Increasing Demand
Samsung GDDR5 is a hyper-synchronous, double data rate DRAM, operating at data clock speeds up to 3.5 GHz and delivering data at up to 7.0 Gb/second. These advanced chips enable graphics card suppliers to push the limits for graphics excellence, providing a rich immersive experience for gamers and enthusiasts alike. With the graphics capabilities of PCs expanding rapidly - advanced graphics memory is making possible of a much more lifelike recreation of images at blistering speed, fueling even greater demand for GDDR5.
GDDR5 Features
GDDR5 supports data rates up to 7 Gbps, with a data clock speed of 3.5GHz (and an external clock speed of 1.75 GHz), typically operating at 1.5V but also supporting 1.35V for ever lower power consumption. Samsung provide GDDR5 densities from 1 Gb to 2 Gb which help build a wide spectrum of buffer solutions for graphics cards ranging from 256 MB to 8 GB. Further, our memory components are lead free and halogen free, underscoring our ongoing support for eco-friendly solutions.

Samsung GDDR5 offers workstation designers and other graphics-oriented users a performance level of 5.0Gbps per pin, which represents an increase of more than 200% over GDDR3 and 500% more than gDDR2.
