Samsung's new Blu-ray disc Combo, the SH-B123 optical disc drive, offers speeds up to 12x for BD-ROMs. With the SH-B123 internal desktop PC drives, users can watch DVDs and Blu-ray content on their PCs, burn DVDs and CDs and even back up content to disc. Burn speed varies from 8x to 16x for DVDs and 24x - 48x for CDs.

Samsung’s new SH-B123 ODD guarantees high reliability in BD play performance by utilizing two lenses and a two laser diode structure, which provide stable BD read, and DVD and CD read/ write performance.

Samsung uses a series of proprietary technologies in the drive to enhance precision and performance, including Spherical Aberration Compensation Technology (SACT) and Precision Step Control Technology (PSCT). SACT improves the quality of the read function on BD drives if the protective layer does not have a uniform thickness. PSCT optimizes position control for the optical pick-up feature that requires small track pitch of BD drives.

The new BD combo employs CyberLink TrueTheater technology, enabling the ability upscale DVD resolution movies to full 1080p HD resolution, PowerProducer, and BD advisor, ensuring the latest BD drive firmware version.

Samsung's BD drive, takes advantage of an Aerodynamic Frame Design, featuring a modern reflective mirror front door, blue LED and high-tech front bezel. The light and tiny casing not only reduces internal heat, but also lowers acoustic spinning noise and operates at a low-power consumption level that averages 25 percent lower power compared to comparable drives in the market. The lead time is greatly improved, reducing the overall timeline to 37 percent over previous models. The SH-B123 drive is manufactured with lead-free soldering technology and are compliant to international environmental regulations that restrict the use of materials such as Pb, Cd, Cr+6, Hg, PBBs and PBDE.
