SAMSUNG SDS launches CCMS with a venture firm

Joint development and marketing of core solution for home automation
Recreates PC-based Internet on household TV/mobile terminals
Strong tool for "Internet commerce" as well as Internet TV and Internet access tool

Brisk developments in solutions for "Internet TV" in the dawn of home automation age.

Samsung SDS (CEO Hong-Ki Kimr) announced that it has singed a business cooperation agreement with AnyOne Wireless, a wireless Internet conversion technology specialist. The two companies are launching an Internet TV conversion solution tentatively called CCMS after the successful first phase development of the solution. It allows users to view PC-based Internet on household TV.

"CCMS" (contents conversion & management solution) is a solution that enables end-users to enjoy the contents available on the web to be viewed on household TV or mobile handsets without hassle, by editing and converting the contents specifically for household TVs and mobile terminals.
The "CCMS," jointly developed by Samsung SDS and AnyOne Wireless, is a revolutionary new solution that accesses various types of web sites and DB to automatically generate data, and such data are recreated on a real time basis on household TV. It is expected to become a crucial solution in home portal business the upcoming home automation era.

Through the cooperation, the two companies would utilize conversion technology of AnyOne Wireless, and contents management and editing experience of Samsung SDS to develop "CCMS" for flawless recreation of Internet contents on household TV.

- The two companies would first market the first phase development of the CCMS conversion solution, which allows view PC-based Internet on household TV, to contents service providers (CSP) such as web agencies and syndication companies.

"CCMS" (contents conversion & management solution) allows contents developed for the conventional web to be reused for the Internet TV, eliminating the trouble that separate contents had to be created for Internet TV, as the contents for the conventional web could not be reused for Internet TV. Market prospect is bright, as the "CCMS" package is an integral part of the home server, which will be the basis of the home automation market.

Eun-Taek Lee, General Manager of Operations at Samsung SDS, stressed that Internet TV will lead the home automation era, as it is a powerful tool in accessing the Internet and in e-commerce. He added, "We will introduce the third generation 'CCMS,' which will allow wired and wireless two-way contents communications by November." He said that he sees great potential for home portal business, quoting IDC that the T-commerce (e-commerce through TV) market will worth $18 billion by 2004, while the market for CMS (contents management solution) will reach $10 billion in 2003.

AnyOne Wireless (CEO: Suk-Hyun Chung) was established in October 1997, as specialist in wireless Internet conversion technology. The company has paid-in capital of 1.1billion Won. AnyOne Wireless posted revenue of 4.0 billion Won in 2000 and expects the revenue to soar to 21 billion Won this year.
